Our Wise Queen [O]

Most kits want to get out of the nursery ad go out on adventures. They want to chase after prey, go diving into the river for fish, or follow after a warrior. For Poppykit...not so much.

She stayed in the nursery as often as she could, or followed after the kits when they rushed outside to play in newly-fallen snow. Despite being as young as the others--or even younger, compared to some older kits getting ready for their apprentice ceremony--she tried to take care of them. She often pulled them back towards the nursery when the queens called and helped clean behind their ears and told them not to play too roughly. She couldn't help it. She really admired the queens in the nursery and wanted to be just like them. But the queen she admired the most was Stormbringer.

The other queens had told her how Stormbringer wasn't just a warrior who had kits; she stayed in the nursery all the time. She took care of kits to let the other mothers rest and she had kits of her own to help grow the clan. Poppykit couldn't believe it! Stormbringer was just like her--but older and wiser--and Poppykit wanted to speak with her.

So, she decided that she would.

Poppykit approached Stormbringer while she was tending to a couple of other kits. She sat down before her and her tail swished eagerly across the padded ground of the nursery. "Stormbringer, how did you become a permaqueen?" Poppykit asked curiously.
