No Need to Fight (closed)

Swanmist left the warrior's den, her tail flicked towards where the gorge was (not exactly, though, she had never really been there enough.) First, she travelled along the riverside, slowly speeding up her pace before slowing to a stop at the gorge. It was deep, steep and many cats had died here. Why was she going here again? She wasn't sure, but she was curious enough to peek down into it, her claws coming out to keep her steady and balanced. It was very, very deep, probably not something she was brave enough to leap over. She looked at the grassy moors on the other side, the wind blew over towards her, it felt nice. It ruffled her silky fur and the breeze was perfect but it felt off. She wasn't too used to perfect things after the twolegs came around. Polluting the water so her clan couldn't eat or catch fish. It would be nice to go over there and run around, carefree. But she was loyal at heart and knew she couldn't abandon her clan at hard times.

The white she-cat waited at the gorge, taking slow, calm breaths. Swanmist didn't need to worry much right now, she needed a break.

Swiftspirit lazily loped along Windclan's border with Riverclan, pale blue eyes sweeping across the gorge curiously. Off in the distance she could see twolegs and their dogs, and it worried Swiftspirit. She wondered how much more Riverclan could take, with leaf-fall approaching and with their small numbers as it was. Daystar let them continue to hunt on Windclan territory, but Swiftspirit wasn't naïve enough to think that the situation could last forever.

She wasn't worrying about a certain marbled tom with green eyes. Definitely not. Their last meeting had been tense, but eye-opening, and Swiftspirit had noticed that he wasn't the gangly apprentice anymore.

"Get over yourself." She muttered, "He's just a friend." There was nothing between them, there couldn't be anything between them. With a shake of her head, Swiftspirit continued alongside the gorge, keen eyes sweeping over the border across to Riverclan once more. She was careful to keep a good distance from the edge, recognizing the treacherous, crumbling earth at the edge for the danger it was. Jumping across would be difficult, and Swiftspirit had had enough of near-death experiences.

A white cat stood out among the sparse foliage on Riverclan's side of the gorge, and Swiftspirit slowed her pace to a walk, glancing towards the she-cat. Not Bearspirit. That was good.

"Are you alright, Riverclanner?" She called out, tone relaxed. It was rare to see cats out here, and for good reason. She wondered if a simple border patrol had brought the she-cat out here as well, but something told her that wasn't the case. She appeared as if she were waiting for something or someone, though Swiftspirit couldn't fathom what.

Swanmist had been so caught up in a daydream she hadn't noticed the Windclan warrior on the other side. The white Riverclan she-cat jumped a little when she was called out to. She stared at the Windclan cat, walking a bit closer to the edge, not showing much fear towards it. She nodded as an answer to the Windclan stranger's question. She was fine, her clan might not be, especially with the twoleg situation. Unfortunately, she couldn't say much. Unlike most of Riverclan, other clans did not know her way of speaking. Hopefully this cat would he open to her not talking, some cats, unfortunately, weren't.

The other she-cat jumped slightly, and if it were one of her own clanmates, Swiftspirit would've told her that she ought to be more aware of her surroundings, especially with the problems their territory currently faced. This she-cat wasn't one of her clanmates however, and Swiftspirit wasn't interested in possibly provoking anything. The Riverclanner seemed to be alone, and Swiftspirit wondered if she was like her, just patrolling to avoid sitting idle. She'd nodded to confirm she was okay, though hadn't said anything. Just naturally shy and quiet?

"You out here just to get away from everything?" Windclan didn't share borders with Riverclan beyond the gorge, and that meant their sightings of the twolegs and their dogs invading Riverclan territory were only at a distance, and relatively sparse. Bearspirit had been particularly unhappy with their presence, and Swiftspirit could only guess that the rest of Riverclan shared his thoughts.

Swanmist padded along the edge, her steps careful and light. Holding a look of 'I know what I'm doing' when in reality she had no idea what she was doing. As a response to the Windclan cat's question, she just nodded, tilting her head and flicking her tail back at them as if asking the same question. Her paw slipped a little as she signed this, causing her to stumble backwards, away from the gorge. Only a few heartbeats later she found herself back at the edge, this time sitting, staring down into the depths below, staring into the rushing water. Pointed rocks and swift, raging water awaited her down there, if she fell in, she was dead. Her thoughts and blood rushed inside of her head. She imagined jumping down for a moment, though it faded away almost immediately, leaving her with a puzzled expression. She backed off, glancing back up at the warrior as she cleaned a paw, awaiting a response.

Swiftspirit awaited an answer, though the she-cat standing across from her made no move to speak still. Instead, Swiftspirit was met with a nod... And she watched the Riverclanner's body language instead. Head tipped, a wave of the tail. Was she... Asking Swiftspirit the same thing? She wondered if it was illness or injury, or maybe just plain preference that kept the other cat from speaking, but at the end of the day it wasn't Swiftspirit's place to ask, nor was it even her business, really. The she-cat's paw slipped slightly, and Swiftspirit's fur rose in alarm. If they fell, there was no chance of being caught and hauled back to safety. The Riverclanner managed it herself, thankfully, though Swiftspirit's heart pounded with adrenaline anyways. Telling her to be careful would be pointless, however. Pointless and irritating, probably. Might as well answer the question she'd posed, or what Swiftspirit thought was the question.

"Me too... Sitting around camp gets boring." That Swiftspirit rarely frequented the area wasn't important to anyone but herself, though she did need to familiarize herself with the parts of the territory that she knew the least.
