Burdockkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Thrushnose’s heart stuttered in her chest as she climbed the back of the Highrock. Considering her siblings had been aunts and uncles to her own kits for a while now, it wasn’t really that strange, but…she had niblings. And the first of them was due to become an apprentice today. Truthfully, she didn’t know any of them well—no matter how much time she spent around kits, she could never quite figure out how to talk to them until they grew up a bit—but even so, she trusted the cat she’d chosen to train Burdockkit would manage just fine. As long as he didn’t do anything too reckless.

Finally, she settled atop the Highrock. By now, the customary yowl felt as routine as any border patrol: “Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!” The post-sunhigh air was cool, for once; she tucked her tail over her paws as she watched ThunderClan gather.
