into the light [closed]

Patchpaw wasn't Badgermask's first apprentice, but she had done poorly with her last and was determined not to repeat it again. So bright and early, Badgermask made her way to the apprentice's den, poking her head in and eyeballing all the snoozing cats until she found Patchpaw's among them. She picked her way through the bodies, and leaned down to nudge her apprentice awake, talking quietly, "Come on, rise and shine, time to get out there," she said gently, then turned and moved out of the den to wait outside.

Patchpaw had been dreaming of running through the forest, but the dream quickly faded when her mentor nudged her awake. Her leaf green eyes blinked open, following Badgermask as she went to wait outside the den. The black and white apprentice yawned, stretching her long limbs out, before hurriedly getting to her paws and following suit.

"What are we doing today?" she asked, giving her chest fur a little lick to at least act like she cared about her appearance.

The apprentice joined her quicker than she imagined, and Badgermask was pleasantly surprised. She blinked a greeting, rising to all-fours and padding towards the entrance of camp. "Hmm," she mused. "Well, what would you like to do? We could try hunting, or we could explore the territories? Or... if you want to spar, we could do that too."

Badgermask didn't know too much about Patchpaw, yet - the young she-cat's personality was a mystery to her. This question, though, would give her a good indication.

Patchpaw followed eagerly after her mentor, although she tried to play it cool. She didn't want to be marked as a problem apprentice, especially not this quickly. Her siblings were good at causing lots of trouble, but she prided herself on being able to be a bit more discreet than that.

The question felt very important, and so she thought for a bit before answering. Obviously they would end up doing all of these things many times throughout her training, but this was her first lesson.

"I want to explore the territories!" she decided, "If that's okay?"
