Prey's Still Running (closed)

Downtuft sighed as he heaved himself to his paws, looking around for two cats to accompany him. He quickly spotted Spotlake, her fluffy calico pelt easily recognizable -- they were kin, after all -- and beside her was the less recognizable form of Amberfluff, her ginger and white fur standing out on the sandy ground beneath her.

"Amberfluff, Spotlake? You two up for a quick hunt?"

Spotlake waved her tail in hello as she saw Downtuft. "Oh yea, I'm up for a hunt!" She said. She got up onto her paws, and walked over next to Downtuft.

Amberfluff raised her head at the call. Why Downtuft called for her out of all cats was beyond her. He probably could have found someone better. However, she didn't say anything about that and instead headed over to him, nodding in silence. The fresh-kill pile that Amberfluff recalled stocking up with Lilacstar-Lilacpaw back then. StarClan, she had grown fast-and Mishka was now getting back down lower, so they had to go hunting soon anyways.

"Lead the way." She gave him a quick nod.

Downtuft dipped his head as Amberfluff and Spotlake accompanied him. "I was thinking we try near Outlook Rock. Dayspring says hunting patrols haven't been there for a day or two, so we're bound to find something." Downtuft explained, as he lead the group of four (an Asylum cat having tagged along, his name being Cow it something like that) towards the big, flat rock.

Breaking into a sprint as he spotted a rabbit, he flattened his ears and took off in bounding leaps, his speed unrivalled. The rabbit had a head start, and he nearly had it. Until it ducked onto Fourtrees. Skittering to a halt, barely a whisker from the Fourtrees border, Downtuft inwardly sighed. If those Asylum harebrains hadn't had forbidden Fourtrees, he would've caught the rabbit. The Asylum cat growled at him to get back to the group, and Downtuft snapped he was.


"The rabbit got away. It crossed into Fourtrees right before I could catch it." His voice held his frustration, but he turned and began scouting the moors, looking for prey.


Downtuft attempted to catch a hare. It crossed into Fourtrees and he missed, cost 5 SP.

Spotlake padded behind Downtuft, shooting glares at the Asylum cat. Spotlake watched as Downtuft attempted to catch a rabbit, failing because of the Asylum's rule for Fourtrees. Fox, those Asylum cats. Downtuft would've caught that rabbit if not for them. She thought, her fur pricking up.

Her ear perked up, when she heard a sound. She turned her gaze and noticed it was a field mouse. She crouched down, walking towards it, before stopping a fox length away. She then sprung forward, ready to pin down the mouse. The mouse noticed her and bounded off. She chased after, before it leapt into a small hole, with her skidding to a stop. "Foxdung!" She cursed under her breath.

Amberfluff kept her tongue as they walked. She in no way appreciated the Asylum cat tagging along, but this was one of those without the ability to decide what they need to do. Maybe they were like Mishka or something if they were lucky. If they weren’t, this would be one of those super rude cats.

Stars, she liked the Asylum cats more than she liked Dayspring. That was very very concerning.

As they arrived, Spotlake ans Downtuft left to hunt. Amberfluff held back for a moment to look around, sniffing, and located something. A small rabbit, not enough to feed much but a rabbit is a rabbit. With that in mind, Amberfluff crept towards the creature. One step, two step, then she sprung.

Unfortunately for her, the rabbit flicked one ear and dove into a hole. Amberfluff frowned, not just because of the rabbit, but because she heard something in the distance.

It seemed none of them were having much luck today. Behind them, the Asylum guard, Cow, chuckled with laughter, and Downtuft snarled. "It wouldn't hurt you to help catch prey instead of just eating it all!" The ginger warrior barked, shoving past the Asylum guard.

Breaking into a sprint, he attempted to cut off a rabbit. He made sure it was in the opposite direction from Fourtrees, and with a soaring leap and incredible speed that WindClan warriors possessed, he landed nearly atop the rabbit.

Prideful, he strutted past Cow, "On second thought, you can keep watching. WindClan don't need you to hunt for us." Depositing the rabbit, his chest flared up, proud to be a warrior of his noble and accepting Clan.

Spotlake flicked her ear as a scent caught her nose. She padded towards the origin of it, seeing a rabbit. It flicked its ear, as she bolted towards it. She then leapt, tackling it, and biting it's neck, killing it. She picked up the limp rabbit and padded towards Downtuft and Amberfluff. She glanced at the Asylum cat, giving a small glare at him, before turning around, and dropping the rabbit.

Amberfluff found herself silently rolling her eyes as Downtuft quickly changed his words. She padded away from the rest of the group, nose twitching as she searched for the source of a peculiar scent she had caught. She hadn't smelled it before, which only piqued her curiosity. She padded towards a patch of grass, pulled the blades of grass apart...

...And promptly yelped as something small clamped its teeth on her front paw.

Amberfluff shook her paw in the air, stumbling in surprise as a long, furry...thing clamped onto her right forepaw. Its bite was stronger than expected, possibly breaking something in her paw. Yowling in surprise and pain, she used her free forepaw to bat at the creature.

A wild Weasel has appeared!

"Amberfluff!" Downtuft yowled, dropping his rabbit as he barrelled straight into the weasel. He slammed into the furry snake, knocking it off Amberfluff's paw."Are you okay?" He gasped, flashing her a quick glance before rushing up to the weasel and slashing across its back.

Downtuft used Run-and-Tackle, dealing FOURTEEN (11 + 3) DAMAGE and COSTING TEN SP. Downtuft used Swift Strike, dealing SIX DAMAGE and COSTING TEN SP.
