| Deadpaw looked around, and his whole body froze. He was in the Dark Forest. The thin, white-barked trees rose up into a misty darkness, and a sluggish river heaved its way through the brittle foliage. He unsheathed his claws, looking for the slightest sign of a cat. Suddenly, a ragged, shadowy pelt slid out from behind some bedraggled bushes. His eyes glinted red, and his fur was a ginger-and-black storm. A thin black smoke eminated around his paws. The cat padded towards Deadpaw until he sat down in front of him about a foxlength away. He fixed his evil gaze on the apprentice.
"Who are you?" demanded Deadpaw. He raised his hackles. The dark cat hesitated. "I am Bloodstream, ssecond in command of the Dark Forest. You must come with me." Deadpaw drew his lips back. "No!"
