Wisteria drifting down the Stream

Wisteriabloom was slowly, very slowly getting used to having Asylum cats in camp. She hated it with all her heart, but at least you couldn't see them most of the time. Although, they had given Riverclan orders, and she didn't quite like following them. But she guessed there was nothing she could really do at this point. She woke in the warriors' den and shook her pelt out, dislodging any pieces of moss that were clinging to her long, thick pelt. Carefully, she woke Streamtail - it would be nice to go hunting with her old mentor again. "Hey, Streamtail?" She asked, immediately forgetting to whisper at the sleeping she-cat, "Are you free today to go out hunting? We'd have to bring an Asylum cat with us, but I guess that the clan has to be fed either way."

Streamtail stirred, grumbling a bit about wanting to get more sleep, until she realised that someone was calling her. Yelping in surprise, the blue-grey she cat shot out of her nest. "Awake! I'm...awake...oh! Nice to see you, Wisteriabloom! Sure, I would love to!" Giving the other she-cat a small smile, the older warrior started padding out of the den, casting a glance at the Asylum cat accompanying them. Some of them were nice, while others...were not so friendly. Slowing down her steps so that mentor and former apprentice stood side by side, Streamtail's emerald green eyes betrayed the distrust she had for the Asylum cats.

Wisteriabloom smiled at her old mentor's enthusiasm and brushed her shoulder as the she-cat stood up as a small sign of affection. Streamtail was one of the few cats that she felt she could rely on; even her trust in Shrikefrost could waver slightly sometimes. Another thing she realised is how much larger she was now. She was now only a little taller, but she had filled out a lot since she started her apprenticeship a long time ago. Despite not enjoying it, she also felt that she'd been putting on a fair amount of weight recently. She didn't know whether she was hogging too much prey or something, but she was hungrier than usual as well, so eating less didn't really work. "Someone will probably just follow us out," she said, annoyed at the constant watch that the camp was under. Just as she had guessed, a younger, slightly nervous-looking Asylum member trailed behind them as they headed to find a good place to hunt.

After a short walk, the pair of warriors (Wisteriabloom was trying her best to pretend that the cat behind them wasn't there) found a quiet stream with a pebbly bank. It would be a nice place to fish, and so she sat down by the water's edge. As she glanced behind her, a thought popped into her head. Do these Asylum cats even know how to fish? Pff. They probably didn't. Surely that alone should just ban them from Riverclan territory. "How about here?" She asked Streamtail, even though her paw was already poised and awaiting fish.

The water was freezing, but since it was only her paw in it she was alright. However, she wouldn't be happy if she fell in today. Leaf-bare was coming, far too quickly for Wisteriabloom's liking. She had hated the drought that had happened in Greenleaf, as it had reduced the river to a muddy swamp, but she had heard that it froze over in the coldest season. Now that would be horrible to swim in. While she was think about the changing weather, a fish brushed her paw. With one quick, well practised movement, she flicked it upwards and it landed on a rock, flapping madly as it struggled to breathe. She ended its misery by bashing its head with a paw and buried it beside them.

Streamtail nodded at her former apprentice as Wisteriabloom caught a fish easily. "Glad to see that my training paid off." Amusement tinged her voice as she reached a paw under the water, feeling a slippery, scaled thing slide across her pawpads. Grinning in triumph, Streamtail tossed the fish back up onto the riverbank, but before she could deliver the killing blow, a horrible squawking noise reached her ears. Backing up fast as a goose charged straight at them in fury, Streamtail instinctively stepped forward, in front of Wisteriabloom. Even though she knew that her apprentice could take care of herself well enough, Streamtail's life was far less valuable than the younger she-cat. "Stay back! Go away, shoo! Back up!" The blue-grey she cat snarled, trying to scare the goose away.

"It certainly did!" Said Wisteriabloom, forever grateful that her and her old mentor had formed such a close bond. However, their talk was interrupted when a goose decided to end their peaceful moment. She watched as Streamtail tried to scare it away, glad for the distraction. She snuck around, behind the white bird, and slid under its belly. With sharp, unsheathed claws, she raked at its belly, making it fail its attempted attack on her old mentor. Once feathers were stuck to her claws with blood, she scrambled back up again. Geese weren't too dangerous for two fully-fledged warriors, but they were unpredictable. Only now did she realise that the Asylum cat wasn't doing anything. Maybe her orders were to only interfere when it looked like we were loosing. All the same, it annoyed her. If they were meant to be protecting them, why was she just watching?

Streamtail gave Wisteriabloom a proud look, before turning her head back towards the goose. It was currently focused on the other warrior and honking angrily. Perfect. Charging at the goose, she tackled it, before trying to sprint out of the goose's range of attack. Too late. With a loud HONK of fury, the goose bashed it's wings onto Streamtail's left flank, knocking her over. Pain rippled across her, but the blue-grey she-cat instantly got back onto her feet, catching her breath. "Go for it's wings. Don't let it get away."

Wisteriabloom was about to run over to defend the winded Streamtail when she had a good idea. Geese had such tiny brains that his one couldn't focus on both of them at once. It was now acting like she wasn't even there. Ignoring her old mentor's instructions, she reared up on her hind legs and brought all her weight crashing down onto the bird's small head, killing it almost instantly. That's what you get for messing with us. "I guess that's that problem solved," She said as she considered what to do with the dead bird. "Should we take it back to camp?" It was bleeding from several places, especially the wings, and its head freaked Wisteriabloom out so much that she didn't want to look at it. Maybe it wouldn't be the best idea to bring it back. But they had only caught one fish before it had interrupted their hunt. "Actually, never mind. Should we carry on hunting then?" Neither of them had taken a hard blow from the goose, since it had been easily beaten. Streamtail might've taken a few moments to catch her breath again after being winded, but it wasn't anything severe enough to end the patrol.
