the flight of a griffon [open]

Griffon’s large eyes locked on the leaf. It was orange, curled inward and easy to crush. He watched as it floated down from the tree, not blinking. As it landed on the ground a few feet ahead of him, he got ready, crouching down. As he leapt at the leaf in what was a combination of an attack and a hunting attempt (neither of which were any good), he flew past the leaf and into the flank of a larger cat.

"Oof!"

His head, which seemed to be larger than his body could hold, wobbled as he hit the ground. Pulling himself up into a sitting position, he looked up with wide eyes at the older cat. "Sorry. I was trying to get the leaf. I’m Griffon!” introduced the kit, tail flicking back and forth as a smile appeared on the tom’s face. The word slid off his tongue easily, even though he hadn’t even known it existed until just a few sunrises ago. Strangely, he had already adjusted pretty well to the Asylum, and everything in it. Maybe it was because he had been so young when he had been brought there, but it seemed like home.
