What are the duties of a medicine cat? : First and foremost, medicine cats are responsible for the health and survival of their Clanmates. They use herbs in order to treat day-to-day injuries and illnesses, and care for the cats or elders who have longer lasting conditions, as well as preparing the dead for passage to StarClan. Beyond daily duties, they also have an invaluable role in battles in stabilizing their injured Clanmates. They also care for the queens of a Clan, helping to ensure that their pregnancies go smoothly and assist in the birthing process with herbs and experience. They are also the Clan's first and strongest link to StarClan, providing guidance and interpreting the prophecies or omens that their ancestors may bestow upon them. They travel during every half moon to meet with the medicine cats of the other Clans, visiting StarClan on a regular to receive their guidance. On top of that, they take apprentices or deputies to Highstones to visit with StarClan before they are named a warrior or leader. Their ultimate allegiance is to StarClan, who holds them to an altered code in order to encourage fair treatment of all cats under their care. This also gives them a unique advantage of diplomacy, either in advising their leader or when directly dealing with other Clans.

What would you do with this position? : As a medicine cat, Scorch would be a major part of ensuring the health and safety of his Clanmates. I would look to make Scorch a centerstone of his Clan's daily life, hopefully encouraging others to come to him with more problems than just physical ones to encourage more in-character interactions, as well as because he's a generally empathetic cat. Being the Clan's connection to StarClan would also enable him to potentially be a very instrumental part of larger plots than just his own character arc, which would be an incredible opportunity.

Why you think you deserve this position? : Scorch would fall in love with the position near instantly, given his natural drive to care for and help others. It would also be a very helpful tool in his development, giving him an outlet to grow and become more sure of himself as he realizes his role as a vital part of his Clan. Out of character, I have always been incredibly partial to the medicine cat characters in the book series and in my past roleplaying experience have absolutely adored playing them myself. The intricacies of the position and how they interact with their Clanmates leads to incredibly nuanced character development that I love. This would also open up a lot more possibilities for interaction with others, since I am new to the site and still trying to get a feel of in-character interactions.
