Fernpaw's Warrior Ceremony

At last, RiverClan was to welcome another apprentice to the ranks of its warriors. The apprentice's den seemed to be overflowing, so when Addershade confirmed that Fernpaw was ready, Ivystar quickly obliged his request to grant the she-cat her warrior name. She sat perched above camp on the Willow Branch, waiting for the remainder of her Clanmates to rise from their nests. After a few moments, she cleared her throat and announced, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Willow Branch for a Clan meeting!"

Fernpaw bounded out into the clearing.

Once Fernpaw had made her way into the clearing, Ivystar looked around for a bit, waiting for the rest of the Clan to gather before starting. "Today, we have gathered to welcome another apprentice into the ranks of our warriors. Fernpaw, it is Addershade's belief that you are fully prepared to take on the responsibilities of a warrior. If you believe this to be true, step forward now and your ceremony will begin."

She gasped. Today was the day! She forgot! he hopped up from being seated and stepped forward.

"Then I, Ivystar, Leader of RiverClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Fermpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Ivystar mewed, voice monotone but not unclear.

"I do." She meowed, trying not to seem too excited.

Ivystar nodded, emerald eyes settled on the she-cat below. "Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. From this day forth, you will be known to all as Fernfluff. Riverclan honors your kindness and optimism. Tonight, as tradition demands, you will hold a silent vigil while the rest of the clan sleep. Until then, however, we celebrate the rise of a new Riverclan warrior who has fully earned her name."

She nodded, trying not to scream in joy.
