Amberkit’s Apprentice Ceremony

With a slight yawn, Ivystar stepped out of the warrior’s den and into the middle of camp. Today, yet another kit would graduate to the rank of an apprentice, and train under the eye of a skillful warrior. Leaping atop the branch, she called out to the Clan, ”All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Willow Branch for a Clan meeting!”

Amberkit jumped up. Today was the day! She just knew six moons had finally passed! She ran out to the clearing, trying to get there first. Unfortunately, she was behind a few cats. She stood there, practically jumping in place.

"Amberkit, please step forward." When the young kit did so, Ivystar continued. "You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to become an apprentice. From this day onward until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Amberpaw. Willowbreeze will be your mentor." With the ceremony complete, Ivystar leaped from the branch and congratulated the new apprentice, letting the Clan celebrate in the traditional manner.

She smiled. It was about time! She jumped down, and started to look for Willowbreeze. (So, is this just how we leave off the thread now?)

Willowbreeze was excited. Her first apprentice!  She walked forward to touch noses with the newly-named Amberpaw.

She smiled, and touched noses. "So, when can I go on patrol? Or learn how to hunt? Or fight"?

"We'll get there," she told the energetic apprentice, "but it all depends on how fast you learn," she gave Amberpaw a sideways glance, "and how well you listen."

She nodded. "I can listen! Really! And I'm a very fast learner"!

She grinned. ”Well, I’m ready now! Can we please do hunting first”?

"Sure!" Willowbreeze replied, then turned and led her new apprentice out of the camp.
