Open Hearts

Mossbloom stretched as she exited the medicine den, paws and head aching. She hadn't been feeling well following the trip to the Moonstone with Daisybloom for her to claim her full name as a medicine cat, but things still needed done. Following the battle, they had far too many herbs to stock up on before something else happened, and with newleaf in full force she couldn't help but fear that it wouldn't be long before snake bites or twisted paw cases filled their den. Her head lifted to meet the gaze of the cat who was to accompany her, and she greeted her with a hoarse mew. "Good morning, Willowheart. Are you ready to go?"

Willowheart stirred, raising her head up slightly. Her sapphire blue eyes met the familiar dappled pelt of the medicine cat, Mossbloom. “Oh. Hey, Mossbloom.” Her voice sounded dull as she got up onto her paws. “Herb hunting? Cool.” Shrugging the moss off of her pelt, Willowheart turned towards the medicine cat. “You sound weird. Are you okay?” Mossbloom’s voice sounded slightly hoarse. Was she sick? Is that why she wanted to fetch some herbs? Willowheart found herself feeling slightly concerned about the she cat. Mossbloom had been with her since she was a kit, so maybe that was why.

With a reassuring smile and a nod, Mossbloom replied. "Yes, I'm alright. Just a bit of a cold. I'll treat it once we get some herbs back in the medicine den." She mewed softly, leading the way out of camp and towards Snakerocks. A bird that swiftly broke it's cover on the brush with a loud squawk made her flinch, but it was delayed. Much slower than her usual responses. Chirping to herself, she wonder if perhaps this cold was worse than she had thought. Soon they were standing at the edge of where the sting soil really started to take over, the warm rocks climbing up only a few tail lengths away. "Be sure... To watch for snakes, Willowheart." Her heart twisted as the vision of Rainstrike taking an added into Oakstar's den flashed over her vision, and she shook it off quickly. She had to focus on the task at hand, and once Oakstar was alright, she would talk to him.

Willowheart nodded, watching where she stepped carefully. Not being an expert at herbs, the she-cat decided to use her nose to sniff around. Catching the scent of a herb, Willowheart rounded towards the area of which she thought had a certain herb. “Hey, Mossbloom? I think I found one.” Oval shaped serrated leaves surrounded clusters of flowers. Willowheart picked it up and dropped it near Mossbloom. “Is this a herb? I’m not entirely sure.”
