Flurrypaw, while terrified by the massive bird before him, was still in the adrenaline of battle. He had been about to rear back to bring his paws down across the eagle's chest when it changed its attention to the small apprentice. Pain flares in his face as the beast's talons scored across his face. Blood immediately started to drip into his eyes, reddening his vision. With a startled and pained yowl, Flurrypaw fell backwards, landing with his belly exposed.

Terror filled the little tom's body, feeling painfully vulnerable. He could hear Foxspirit's attack and could only hope that she was safe. StarClan help us! Heart racing and frame trembling, Flurrypaw could only lay still on the ground, unable to stand up from the flaming pain, the likes of which he had never felt before in his short life.
