May Gathering 2020 [Sitewide Plot Finale]

(OOC: Staff told me that Brackenstar is actually at 14 HP instead of 27 as of me posting this since Falconwing most likely forgot that Dawngaze attacked him before Ravenmist did.)

Sparkfire winced at the rushed attention to her wounds, but she didn’t protest. After all, she was already starting to feel better, almost as if she had gained back some strength. She gave Mossbloom a grateful nod before turning and launching herself back into battle. She found a cat who had been slammed to the ground by Ravenmist, and she grinned in satisfaction; the ShadowClan deputy may be blind, but she was a force to be reckoned with. With a caterwaul, she slammed hard into the starry tom’s side in a full-bodied tackle.

Sparkfire used Run-and-Tackle on Brackenstar, dealing 10 (+3) damage and costing 10 stamina.

Night Finesse is in affect, dealing an additional +2.

Aggressive Buff is in affect, reducing stamina consumption by -6.

Addershade felt his body tense up as Stembreeze attacked the other apprentice who was with them instead of either of the warriors. If the StarClan cat was willing to fight dirty like that, Addershade had no doubt he'd be willing to go after Snowpaw, even before dealing with Batbite or himself. He just hoped Snowpaw wouldn't do anything to particularly provoke the StarClanner and be more likely to get himself targeted...

Of course, as soon as he thought that, Snowpaw launched himself into their opponent's side and then stumbled back, dazed.

Addershade moved as fast as he could, striking Stembreeze with everything he had, hoping if he was going to switch who he was attacking again, the sting of his own attack would be enough to keep it from being his son.

Ravenmist panted, giving Sparkfire a grateful nudge. “Thanks for that. Good work.” Then a caterwaul broke in the air, from Smokepaw, one of anger. “Hey, easy there, buddy. We got him. He won’t hurt anyone, ever again.” Tentatively, she placed a paw over his back, hoping he wouldn’t turn on her in his fury. She wouldn’t hold it against him. He had just been knocked down, like a breeze, by the cat who killed his mother. Killed his older brother. Ravenmist couldn’t imagine what she would do if Asterspark was murdered.

”Go to Mothglow and get yourself taken care of, or StarClan help me, I will drag your dead body there.”

She cast her ears around the clearing, shaking out her pelt. She was a bit bruised from having Flintstar bundled into her, but otherwise unharmed. So, she would find a new opponent. But first, she figured, she might as well make sure Smokepaw got safely to the medicine cats.

Zinnia kept her eyes on the fight, trusting Downpaw to watch both Galestar and herself. One StarClan cat, the one that several ShadowClan cats seemed fixated on, seemed to be struggling; and there were a few less fights than when she'd last truly surveyed her surroundings. In particular, she noted that the cat Olivestone had initially gone after was gone, and her clanmate was elsewhere now. The one that had been near the medicine cats was gone, as was the one Briarthorn had run off to attack - perhaps the tides were turning, she mused.

Despite that, however, they had lost several on their own side; and the living clans' leaders mostly lay fallen. What little victory they had achieved thus far had come at a cost.

She returned her attention, at last, to Downpaw and Galestar.

Whatever she's doing... Please, let it work!

Harefoot gasped out of sheer exhuastion when Liondawn finally fell, spitting venom like a snake with her final words. He felt bad, like maybe StarClan themselves would hate him for his insuboordination. What these particular cats were doing was wrong, but the rest of them had cut off the Clans a long time ago. It was hard to know what was right when every option seemed wrong. He returned Sparkfire's nod stiffly and then glanced around. The only thing he could do now was keep fighting; running would not save him or his family. "That's right!" He cried aloud, suddenly remembering his and Ferretnose's kits were here. However, no matter how hard he squinted through the darkness, the writhing masses of bodies was too difficult to see through If Cedarheart and Beepaw were in trouble, Harefoot was entirely incapable of finding them. Instead, he decided to keep pushing through, even though he was afraid. Even if he was sure he would run out of luck soon. 'Wait for me, Beartooth.'

Viperpaw visibly deflated with relief as Brackenstar was defeated and Smokepaw still stood. Still spirited, she thought with some pride as she looked at her brother.

"I can make sure he gets to Mothglow, Ravenmist." She spoke up, pressing her side to Smokepaw's. She wanted to stick with her littermate now more than ever, as her insides still felt raw and empty. She forced her thoughts away from Flintstar. Besides, Ravenmist was far more useful to the fight than she was. She had gotten some blows in, but she was just an apprentice, and she had seen how easily Brackenstar had smacked Smokepaw aside.

"C'mon, Smokepaw. You are coming with me. I can't lose you, too." There it was again, those raw wounds of loss. Her voice broke a little, again the young scared cat she was showing through her facade that she tried so hard to keep up.

Sunspark growled as Stormbringer charged at him. Presumably a loved one of the RiverClan leader, judging by her reaction. Pure anger radiated from her small form, channeling into raw power that she used to grab the StarClan cat and throw him. Sunspark landed with a heavy thud, the dirt in the clearing offering no protection from the impact. His head spun, he saw stars and a headache began to creep into his skull. He couldn't get up now, but he could still talk. "I took no pleasure in killing her, you know. It had to be done, for the good of the for-ACK" His little speech was brought to a sharp halt as he was attacked by another cat. His face was bruised and bleeding now. Clearly, Ivystar had been a significant cat. They should have thought about the consequences of their traitorous actions before she was killed. He was justified in killing her. Another cat approached him now, striking him in the face with one paw. It was only an apprentice, so the attack was leagues less effective than the others, but the wounds really added up.

He started to get to his feet with no little amount of pain when a surge of energy ran through him. He didn't know what it was, but he felt invigorated. A sneer began to form on his face, a sneer immediately wiped off his face when yet another cat raked her claws down his side and almost knocked him back over again. He hissed in anger at his opponents. "You living cats think you know everything. Ivystar's death is not on my claws. It is on yours. You betray StarClan, you let cats... mingle with those of other Clans. You allow outsiders among your ranks. And yet when your distasteful actions backfire, you blame those that simply want the Clans to be pure? To be free of filthy blooded rogues and kittypets? You are all delusional if you think you can defy the wrath of StarClan."

Spiderquill was still frozen in place as the scene unfolded before his eyes. Ivystar was still on the ground. Still bleeding. Still... well, still. It felt like Spiderquill's heart had stopped along with hers, a sharp pain growing in his chest as he realized. She wasn't getting up. She was dead, for good. Paradoxically, though he felt as if he'd been crushed by a monster on the Thunderpath, his tears came to a stop. He was too stunned, too sad to cry. He could've helped. He should've helped. Yet all he did was sit there, shattered into a million pieces and not useful to anyone. He'd failed Ivystar. He was a medicine cat, and for what, exactly? He hadn't saved Torrentstar. He hadn't saved Treepaw. He hadn't saved Mudfrost. Who was he helping? Nobody. Certainly not himself, he was in a terrible state. Face dirty with blood and tears, what little fur he had matted. He was useless. What-

His trance was broken by a weight suddenly falling on him. His heart sped up like a rabbit's as he thought about what it could be. A Righteous Few member, here to kill him? A predator, taking advantage of his weakness? All his fears subsided, however, when he turned to look at what it was. The one cat he did save. "A-Ashpaw." Shock subsiding, he practically melted into his brother as fresh tears sprang from his eyes. They were holding each other up now, the weight of the two of them pressing against one another enough to keep them from falling into a heap on the floor. He listened as Ashpaw apologized, for... For what? He didn't kill Ivystar. If anything, It was Spiderquill's fault. "Y-you have no-*sniff*-nothing to b-be sorry for. I-I'm a m-medicine cat. I was m-meant to... I was meant t-to save her. I'm useless."

Leaving Brackenstar to fade away into oblivion, Sparkfire turned her attention to Ravenmist at her nudge, and she gave her a smile, even though she knew the deputy wouldn’t have been able to see it. Her smile fell to a serious frown. ”Ravenmist, have you seen— er, do you know where Flintstar is?” She hadn’t seen her brother ever since the battle began, and even with looking around the battlefield now, she couldn’t see the ShadowClan leader.

Not on his claws? Not on his claws? Honeytongue's eyes narrowed as she sneered at the tom, her tail lashing. "There is no weakness in taking in outsiders. Our strength is in our numbers and love for each other," she growled, before she paused to stare up as she scanned the battlefield for a moment. "...I don't see your wrath. You might have...Killed Ivystar, but your numbers are falling while we grow in strength by standing at each others side. You are an idiot for thinking you can defy the wrath of us." With that, she reared onto her back paws and brought her claws down onto his head as a perfect...Way to end her statement.

The battle raged around them, but Clovertwist could only focus on his allies and the starry fox-heart they faced together. Names were shrieked - "mom", "Flintstar", "Mothglow" - but he couldn't pause to decipher what they meant. Even the practically incoherent screeching of that one ThunderClan apprentice, Vixenpaw, could scarcely tear him away from his target. The Righteous Few croney's body was shuddering with a disturbing power that seemed to enrage and strengthen him. Clovertwist could feel his kinked tail throbbing with ache beneath the numbness of adrenaline. Oh, Aspenheart, I'll be seeing you a lot after this is over, he thought grimly, especially seeing the dangerous look in Sunspark's eyes. Clovertwist laughed harshly at the tom's pompous, foolish words, and nodded tersely in agreement with the RiverClan cat's words.

He stepped in as soon as Honeytongue stepped back, emulating her skillful move without giving their enemy a moment to breath and recover from the first blow. The silver tabby reared up and bore down unsheathed claws on the tom's head, slamming the starry face into the earth before raking through flesh and fur and jumping back. Clovertwist spat, shamelessly willing to stoop to apprentice-level insults, "I think you're all just full of Righteous Poo!" His heart was racing in his ears. "If you're StarClan then I'm a badger!" His tail lashed defiantly; a new wave of pain shot up his spine. Hold it together, Clover. You have to do this - for WindClan, and Finchstar and Morningpaw.

Another is on his way…? The thought rocketed through Nettlefire’s head, alongside the frozen image of the StarClan cat’s malevolent smile, directed straight at her, even as the battle continued.

Surely she can’t mean…? He’s not even here right now, is he? Is he?

Fueled still by anger and now also by an ounce of desperation, Nettlefire lifted herself upward and then brought her claws crashing down onto Cypressflame.

“Bold words from you, considering you already are a mauled corpse,” she hissed, the words rattling through her teeth.

Stormbringer couldn't bring herself to speak even after the tom's harsh words. Clovertwist and Honeytongue seemed to cover everything she wanted to say, but her eyes still burned with a fire of hatred, her chest filled with the need for vengeance. As the others moved forward and attacked she felt it right to finish him off with the same move, pummeling him into the ground, into the dirt where he belonged.

Ploverpuddle let out a growl as the cat had attacked him but it was better for the large gray tom to be the one to take the attacks instead of the younger warriors who don't have as much battle experience he has. "You have picked the wrong cat to attack." The tom warned the dead cat before lashing out with his front paws followed up by a swift attack.

Nightwolf gave a brisk nod of thanks towards Swansong when she joined them. This so called Starclan cat wouldn't be able to go back to Starclan ever again. "Hope ya enjoy rotting in the Dark Forest." He smirked. He then added dumbly, "Theres probably tons of squrriels there." He then swiped his paw at the Starclan cat again.

Redpaw showed his teeth at the StarClanner. "That's right. You're going to rot in the dark forest, you little rat." He yowled and ran straight at the she-cat, intending to claw her perfect little face. In the last second, he switched tactics and ducked his head, devoting his energy to bracing himself. Redpaw slammed into Aspenlead, knocking her back several steps. He marveled at how easy it was to bring down someone so much bigger than him. He was filled with new determination as he noticed Swansong join him. "Maybe you didn't expect Swansong and I to stay, being SkyClan," he muttered angrily. "but we did, which shows just how much more 'righteous' we are than you."
