Trespassing

Willow gazed into the river, silently watching the silvery flashes beneath the surface. Then her paw struck out, catching one of the fish. Hooking her paw towards herself, the fish landed on the bank and flopped around, trying to get back to the water, before she killed it with a swift blow to the head. She had been coming to the river ever since her friend had taught her to fish to practice her skills. Smiling in satisfaction, she dipped her head to pick up her prey. Head held high, she turned around to head back into the forest where she would be hidden but froze when she caught sight of movement. Focusing on the spot, Willow narrowed her eyes and tried to peek into the shadows. There was definitely something there, but what was it? If it was a clan cat, she was in big trouble. She dropped her fish on the bank and padded closer to where she had seen movement, bracing herself for an attack. She had already been spotted, so there was no point in hiding anymore.

Snowpaw had finally gotten what he’d been wishing for since his first real patrol: walking RiverClan’s borders wasn’t really boring anymore. Of course, what made it not-boring was the fact that he spent half the time jumping at small noises, certain one of them might be the Righteous Few. Sure, he hadn’t done anything wrong on purpose, but how much did “on purpose” matter to them? As renewed unease spiked through him, he glanced up—and spotted a calico she-cat on the riverbank. A fresh fish sat at her paws. Small as RiverClan was, Snowpaw knew his Clanmates’ names and faces almost by heart; this cat wasn’t one of them. Suddenly, the she-cat turned. He threw himself into the grass…a moment too late. After setting her (rather, RiverClan’s) fish down on the bank, she turned, not quite looking at him, but too close for comfort.

The patrol he’d been part of was nowhere in sight. If he ran to get them, the she-cat might leave—or sneak even further past the border. Disjointed bits of Stormbringer’s lessons tore through his head. He’d never fought an older cat before…but someone had to. Snowpaw took a deep breath, then hurled himself at the she-cat with a piercing yowl. ”Prey-thief!”

Snowpaw used Run-and-Tackle, dealing 6 (+3) damage and using 10 stamina.

Willow turned in surprise the moment a ball of white fur crashed into her. She tumbled to the ground before leaping to her feet, assessing her opponent. He was younger than her, with a pure white pelt and different colored eyes. "Why, hello, kitty," she sneered. "Why don't you run to your mommy?" she smirked before leaping at him, paws outstretched, bowling him over the same way he had done to her, except more powerful because of her bigger size. He had attacked her first, so she wouldn't hold back despite the fact that she was the one trespassing on clan territory.

Willow used Jumping Strike, costing 20 Stamina and dealing 10 damage.

Snowpaw couldn’t help the fierce grin that flashed across his face as the older cat toppled. His attack had worked! Well, of course it had. Hadn’t Stormbringer trained him for situations just like this? Lifting his muzzle in defiance, he snapped, ”Warriors don’t run—“ The rest of his boast was lost in a yelp as the she-cat’s own charge sent him sprawling into the grass. If she had anything else to say, he couldn't hear it beyond the ringing in his ear. There wasn't time to regain his bearings—what if she got away? Snowpaw blindly kicked upward, then rolled onto his paws and scrambled away, only turning once he’d put some distance between himself and the trespasser. Standing up didn’t make the world wobble any less...but he had to fight. At least until the others got here. ”I-I’m warning you,” he growled, ”put that fish back!”

Snowpaw used Belly Rake, dealing 7 damage and using 10 stamina.
