Featherkit's Apprentice Ceremony

There was a dullness to Foxfire's eyes as he padded across the camp, head low as he reached the base of the Tallbranch. He halted, taking a moment to stare up at it before he turned and sat down, not having the energy to climb up there - mostly with his wounds still healing. He knew that this was something that Spottedstar could have handled - the two had talked about it but...It was the least he could do. It was his responsibility after all. "Let all cats old enough to climb trees gathering beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting," he called out, no real energy to his voice, even wincing at the effort of talking - cobwebs plastered to his throat from where he had been bitten by that ShadowClan cat.

Featherkit bounded out of the nursery. He had waited for this moment since he was a moon! All his siblings had become apprentices, so it was time he got his name. His eyes narrowed in concern at how weak Foxfire looked, it didn't see, right. He plopped down next to Juniperpaw, smiling.

Foxfire perked up a little at the sight of Featherkit, the barest of the smile at his excitement before it faded as he cleared his throat to talk. "Featherkit, please step forward," he beckoned with a nod of his head, shifting on his paws as he scanned the gathered cats. He had spent plenty of time trying to decide upon who would be his mentor, having little else to do while stuck in Sagelight's den... "Featherkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Featherpaw. Your mentor will be Sunflower." Sunflower already had an apprentice in Honeypaw but she was well on her way to being a warrior soon. The timid warrior could make do. With that done, he stood up with a wince and slowly left - not wanting to face his Clanmates any longer than he had to do so...

Featherpaw grinned. He looked over at Sunflower, running over to them and touching noses. He was finally an apprentice and he just couldn't stop his excitement. He looked back to all his siblings, he was just like them now. Glancing back at Foxfire, he was still worried, they looked so pale and empty...

Hearing his name called, Sunflower made his way to the front of the crowd and found his new apprentice. Touching noses with the young tom, Sunflower gave his short pelt a shake. "We-We'll start training t-tomorrow," the abnormally tall tom mewed shakily.

Featherpaw looked right at Sunflower. The tom was all shaky and stuttering, but he didn't care, he knew he would be a great mentor. Featherpaw couldn't find words to say, but just grinned at Sunflower and ran off to find his siblings.
