Brindle Bushes [OPEN]

The world was something fascinating. Something new at every corner, at every step. Smells, sights, sounds, all of it was new and something to learn. Of course, the moss underneath her paws was one thing. That had become familiar enough. Her tiny claws flexing to grasp at the sticky, yet soft and warm substance, tearing at it with her small might. Dirt was another thing. It wasn't nearly as soft as moss, in fact it was quite a bit harder, but it still offered some degree of warmth. Perhaps she was weird, but it seemed to get colder as each day went on. With her eyes now open she could properly explore the world, and Brindlekit was all for doing such a task. A proud stretch had her up and moving quietly around, making sure she could check out every inch of the nursery she called home for the time being. All of the other cats inside were ones she would eventually become familiar with. However, a bright light surrounded where some of the queens and other kits came and went.

Of course, Brindlekit had gone outside the nursery. But only once before. Even then, the sun had been way too bright for her to stay out for long, and she had quickly ducked back inside to the darker walls of what she knew to be her comfort. So, there the small silver cat was, sitting at the very edge of the entrance with her small tail curled around her paws. She would decide to leave eventually. But for now, it was a balancing game of adjusting to such a bright, loud place beyond.

Honeytongue was gently grooming herself outside of the warrior's den, enjoying the fleeting warmth on her pelt. The colder days were becoming noticeable and it was almost dreadful when she had realized it was only going to be getting worst...But at least she had her thick coat to keep her warm. There was a movement at the top of her vision that caused her to pause, seeing a small gray form go scampering out of the nursery...Only to swiftly return to the comfort of the reeds.

She raised her head, a soft purring rising from her throat she realized she had spotted the movements of a kit, slowly pushing herself to her paws as she padded across the camp. The newly named warrior peered into the entrance, spotting the crouched form of a small kit...Brindlekit, if her memory served her. She hadn't gotten the chance to really visit the nursery to see the newest kits but she had heard their names be mentioned and this little she-cat certainly fit the bill. "Well hello there," she greeted, tilting her head as she watched the young kit. "What are you up to, little one?"

The little silver bundle of fur blinked curiously as the much larger, and quite pretty, she-cat made her way over. With vibrant blue eyes every single detail she could fit was taken in, with how the other cat walked to how she came to curiously greet her. Brindlekit certainly felt special to be greeted by the older cat. Not many other kits were greeted by the cats that stayed outside the nursery, as far as she knew. That made her special... right? "Oh, hi." Her voice was certainly much quieter than the warriors, but she had made enough sound to be heard.

What was she up to? It was a really good question. "I'm thinking about exploring..." The she-kit admitted honestly. But the hesitance in her voice gave way her real thoughts. "It's just really bright out there. It... it kind of hurts to see if I go out too fast." Her ears had leaned back a bit in a twinge of sorrow. Every bit of her little paws itched to go out and explore and learn about what all the other kits sometimes came shouting into the nursery about. To learn about the camp, to go see where the warriors den was, to check out the apprentice's den where she would soon be. Perhaps if she waited until it was a bit darker outside, it wouldn't be so painful. But the more that she looked at the pretty yellow cat in front of her, the more she was able to look at the bright world beyond.

Her ears were perked, barely picking up the kit's soft, shy voice. She rumbled a gentle purr in sympathy, knowing that she couldn't really blame the young kit for being so overwhelmed. It was a big world, even just being confined into the camp...She was a tad surprise to hear about the brightness, glancing off in the general direction of where the sun was glowing high in the sky. She rarely spent much time in the dens anymore, she had kinda forgotten how sudden the light of day was - she at least had gotten used to the change when she ventured from the warrior's den every morning but...She couldn't blame the young kit to be so overwhelmed by such a new, sudden thing. "Hmmm, that is certainly a problem," she mused as she sat down, curling her tail around her paws. "How about I sit here and keep you company until you think you are ready to venture out, alright? You can even ask me questions if you have any!"

Immediately, the young silver kit perked up. "Really? You would?" Energy immediately seemed to fill her small body in place of the anxiety that barred her from going outside. A small jovial prance around the older she-cat led Brindlekit to take a spot right beside Honeytongue, with questions immediately flooding her mind. "Well... umm... first... What's your name?" Admiration and an all-around feeling of gratitude had Brindlekit practically buzzing with excitement. Talking to an actual warrior! Of course, she had sat back down, curling her tail around her paws once more. It was as if she was a little statue who would get up and move, only to find her place once more. "Oh, and is everywhere else like... here?" Wonder filled her blue gaze, picturing the sound of water everywhere she went, the classic ease of swimming everywhere something she longed to know.

Honeytongue closed her eyes, purr loudly as the kit seemed welcome to her small suggestion of simply sitting and chatting - to take the world on at her own pace. "My name is Honeytongue!" she purred with a swish of her tail, before pausing at her second question. She allowed her gaze to scan the camp, thinking of what to say. The simple answer was no, she had visited the WindClan moor on her trip to the Moonstone, she had seen the dense forest that SkyClan and ThunderClan called home... But to put it in a way that a young kit could understand... "No, the land outside of our territory is...Different. Only SkyClan and ThunderClan live on similar territories but even they have differences. Its strange, for certain. I'm far more comfortable here among the water but they tend to prefer...Drier areas."

Honeytongue. She liked that name. While what honey exactly was fell short of the kits mind, it sounded pretty. And looking at the she-cat it belonged to, it seemed fitting. "Honeytongue is a super pretty name. I'm Brindlekit." Brindlekit decided with a nod. As the difference between the lands was described, the young kit tried her hardest to picture what they would look like. Places without as much water as Riverclan had sounded like very weird places to be. She tried very hard not to picture what it would be like to live without the sound of water somewhere in the distance, and honestly couldn't. While silence was something she didn't mind, there was always the sound of running water. It just was simply everywhere. "Drier? No water? That sounds weird." Brindlekit had to admit. She kept watching just beyond the warrior, still determining whether or not she wanted to leave the nursery. "Are there any like... mean things that can hurt me in the camp?" She asked timidly. While the silver kit was almost ready to leave, she didn't want to if she would get hurt.

"It is certainly weird," she mused, shaking her head. She didn't really grasp why the other Clans hated water so much - it wasn't hard to learn how to swim. Sure, she had heard tales of cats drowning but...It was rare and in between for a RiverClan cat because they were taught how to ride the currents and how to stay safe and afloat. She blinked as Brindlekit meekly asked about any dangers inside the camp, giving her a soft smile. "Oh no, there shouldn't be any dangers in the camp itself - it is well protect by the waters and there are plenty of warriors that would jump to defeat anything that could harm you, Brindlekit," she said, before pausing slightly. "Well, I suppose some cats could be mean and snappy if you tread on their tails but they would truly mean you no harm - things have just been a bit...Stressful, recently. And I would happily accompany you if it would make you feel more safe - I don't have any patrols to go on at the moment anyways."
