Flintkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Another one. Redwing inhaled, then exhaled calmly, showing nothing on her face. It was just words. Just a ceremony. She'd seen hundreds. She'd done two, three already. What was one or two more? "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather for a Clan meeting!" she called again, feeling the redundancy of the words even as she did so. Flintkit glanced up from where he was sitting, having watched two of his siblings go through the ceremony already...Which left him and Frostkit to still gain their apprentice name. He wasn't sure quite who Redwing would do next - not that he had a preference. He was more than content to wait, watching as his siblings sat next to their mentors as he waited for the deputy to continue with the ceremony.

Her eyes sought out the kit- very similar looking to his mother. "Flintkit, please step forward." Once he did, she continued, squaring her shoulders so she looked more confident than she felt. "Flintkit, you have reached the age of six moons and you are ready to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Flintpaw. Your mentor will be Lynxscar. I trust that he will pass down all he knows to you." The tom may have been young, and a little ambitious, but giving him the chance to train an apprentice seemed right. Besides, almost every other warrior had at least one apprentice by now.

The brown tabby, who was present for the ceremony, smiled when his name was called. Sure, he was still a young warrior -the youngest one around- but by now, he was certain there was no doubt he had tons of potential. Mentoring an apprentice may be a challenge but it was part of the warrior life... and if he truly wanted to make Shadowclan greater, he had to start training younger generations to believe that their clan should regain their former strength.

The large, somehow intimidating scarred warrior made his way among his clanmates to reach Flintpaw's side. He looked down on the dark tom and touched noses with him briefly. He offered a half-serious smile to the young cat before speaking up. "We start your training tonight. You need to learn how to move in the dark. Meet by the entrance when the first stars appear. Don't be late or I'll leave you behind." He stepped back for the apprentice to celebrate with the rest of his denmates but before that, he turned his head one more time to say some lasting, yet somehow inspiring words. "Don't you worry, Flintpaw. Follow my lead, don't fall behind and you will become one of the greatest and strongest warriors this forest has ever seen."

Flintkit's ears perked at the call of his name, taking a step forward as Redwing continued on with the timeless words. At the reveal of his mentor, Flintpaw glanced over to the side as Lynxscar stepped forward to greet him. He was surprised - even if he didn't show it, partly aware of how new of a warrior that Lynxscar was but it didn't really bother him. He certainly looked like a warrior and was certain he would serve the purpose well.

He raised his head to touch noses, tail swishing as he listened to his words. "Of course, I won't let you down," he responded to his mentor as Lynxscar started to step away, his steady gaze lingering as the scarred tom paused to turn back. He would have smiled if he actually bothered to show emotions. He was already planning to be a great warrior - he was going to make Thornstar proud...It seemed he just had another cat to add to that list to make proud as he turned to share some words with his family...Gaze flickering up to the sky, making the mental note to not be late on his first day of training.
