The sickening crack of the dam still rings in your ears

while your body still trembles from the force of the wave that struck you.

The flood has washed you away from your Clan, your home, and your loved ones.

You don't know who remained safe in the forest, who was swept away with you, and who has joined the ancestors.

The current seems to show no sign of slowing...

Swept Away [Newleaf Tears Sub-Plot] Unknown

Half of the Clans have been swept away from their homes and everything they've loved.

Soon they will reach dry land; however, the journey will be far from complete.

Your characters have found themselves washed up on one of two shores -

the West Shore and the East Shore -

and each will face its own unique threats and challenges.

The list of who has been swept to which shores is included on each shore's thread.

Anyone who did not roll was swept by default; dependents (such as kits, elders, and the injured) were kept with their rescuers.

While you will be limited to your randomly-assigned shore for the first few days,

the world will become more open and both shores will become accessible as the plot progresses.

You will be encouraged to use the first bit of time to interact with cats washed up on your shore.

Keep an eye on your shore announcement to see when the next stage is beginning!

A strange popping sound to the South draws all eyes to the sky, frighteningly reminiscent of the breaking dam . . .

however, instead of a flood of water rushing to overtake the Clan cats, glowing lights rain from the sky

before disappearing at the Southernmost point of the lake.

At last, a sign has been sent from StarClan:

the Clan cats of each shore determine that they must follow the fallen stars

in order to find their way home and - hopefully - their missing loved ones.

Meanwhile, in the mountains, an omen was sent. The clans who decided to go further into the mountains have received a message: find the Tribe of the Endless Skies, who live in the deepest cave of the tallest peak that touches the moon at its higher point.

Riverclan, Thunderclan and Shadowclan's cats that were living in the mountains are now looking for a safe place to live, the home of those ancient cats who once visited the forest. Will they welcome them with open paws? Or will they be chased away into the cold and harsh mountain's landscape to die?

The stars are gone and the cats who chose to stay at the Highstone will now face the consequences of what the flood has left.
Their home at the Gorge was destroyed.
Hunger forced them to move.
Revenge and blood is their motivation.
Beware the teeth of the hungry ones, for the night is dark and full of terrors.

Wounded and tired, those who survived the dogs' raid have now found their way through the mountains, following the steps of the other clans who went to the doubtful safety of the rocky landscapes.
The Tribe is now welcoming more visitors and peace seems to have returned to the clan cats who were saved from the flood.
However, how long will it last?

Having reunited on the Twoleg bridge, the East and West Shore cats are now continuing to travel north towards the forest as one group.
The journey may take several days, and many Clan cats are feeling the weight of their still-lost loved ones.
Regardless, they have found others, and they take heart in knowing that soon - for most of them - their journey will be over when they find the forest once again.

The official threads in which each Clan will return to their home will be posted on May 12th.
In the meantime, you may post any individual or group threads while on the journey.
New threads will no longer be allowed at the Lake after the 12th (unless your cat stayed behind!).

Starclan has spoken and is time to go home but, what will it cost?
The Tribe's biggest fear stands in your path, and you must defeat it. From jaws as sharp as mountain peaks, the sun will rise as red as the blood on stones in the direction of a forest guarded by stars.

Welcome home, lake cats!

After several long days of travel, those who were Swept Away have finally returned to the forest they love.

Much has changed thanks to the floodwaters, and the borders bear almost no scent of Clan life as the groups travel northward, but it is undoubtedly home.

SkyClan and RiverClan were first to part, as their camps were closest to the part of the forest where they emerged. ThunderClan left next, and ShadowClan and WindClan separated at Fourtrees.

All of the Clan cats, upon returning to their camps, were able to notice that they were in ruins, and no nests or herbs remained. All cat-made borders and walls that had been placed were swept and nowhere in sight. The camps would almost all certainly need complete redoing - but how, when so many Clanmates were still lost?

RiverClan's sandy camp, always known for draining well, survived the best, and new reeds and grasses are already growing to replace the ones that were torn away.

ShadowClan's camp was nearly inaccessible at first, as the thick brambles and thorns that made up the walls had held fast to the earth but tangled hard into each other, flattening to the ground and closing the entrance tunnel. With some work (and many scratches) it can be reopened and utilized again.

SkyClan has been stripped of the foliage that surrounded the camp; it will likely take several seasons for it to ever be as secure as it was before, but it seems that many of the trees remained strong and upright and could be used until camp is hidden again.

ThunderClan's camp, housed in a ravine that once held a stream, has been swept nearly empty. Some weeds and branches remain, but mostly the camp is bare stone. Dens will need to be rebuilt, but at least the walls provide natural shelter.

WindClan, whose camp was walled naturally by growing gorse, has maintained much of the root systems; they are already beginning to regrow and will need to be shaped and reinforced over time. In the meantime, the camp is a bit more exposed than usual.

This concludes the Swept Away portion of the Newleaf Tears plot; keep your eyes out for the conclusion of the sitewide!
