morning patrol [closed]

Violetfall was awake with the morning dew, up and ready to go. Today, she had a morning patrol with Gladepaw and Lilypaw, although with the sun still hidden it was difficult to tell what time of day it really was. She cast a brief glance at the unnatural phenomenon that had plagued the sky for days on end. Hunting would be interesting in this light, but she was willing to give it a try, and she certainly hoped the two apprentices she was taking out were too. Not willing to wait for too much longer, she poked her head into the apprentice den. "Lilypaw, Gladepaw!" she called. "I'm taking you out today, let's go!" She retreated to the camp entrance, settling peacefully to wait.

Lilypaw woke up at Violetfall's call. She jumped up and followed her. She sat down beside her, waiting for Gladepaw.

Another Patrol?! Gladepaw was tired of this, she really couldn't be bothered. Everything was tiresome, and she was almost certain the clan could last an entire day without her slaving her hind off. The white she-cat grumbled as she joined the patrol.

Violetfall nodded to both young she-cats in turn. Standing up, she led them out of camp, and started into the familiar, wooded territory that was ThunderClan. Not too long after leaving camp, the warrior slowed her pace to a walk. The small group entered a clearing, and she motioned with her tail for the pair of apprentices to stop. "This looks good," she nodded. "Start hunting here."

She had already caught the scent of a shrew, so she carefully followed the trail until she found the small rodent scuffling along the twig-strewn forest floor. Dropping low, she stalked her quarry until she judged the distance close enough. A few moments later, she emerged from the trees back into the clearing, the shrew dangling from her jaws. She dropped it near the center and bad touch dirt over it so she could retrieve it later, then turned back to hunting.
