Firepaw's Assessment

Flurryshine watched with appraisal as her apprentice successfully caught river prey, but frowned with concern at his continuous failed attempts to catch land prey. He was able to catch a mouse at least, yet despite his best efforts he just couldn't seem to catch anything else. Perhaps he wasn't trained enough to hunt frogs quite yet -- maybe the mouse was even just a fluke, a stroke of luck.

...No, of course it wasn't! Firepaw was skilled enough to catch any piece of fresh-kill. After all, he was the son of Dewshine and former ShadowClanner Gingerstripe. She just knew he had it in him to catch a frog if he kept trying. Refusing to reveal herself, she meowed from the shadows, "A warrior doesn't give up until the very end, Firepaw. I know you can do it. Just keep on trying until you've caught a frog."

Firepaw tried again, and failed.

Firepaw tried one more time, when suddenly an owl came out of nowhere, scooping up the frog he was trying to catch! "Come on! Even an OWL can do better than me?" Just then, he was knocked forward by the owl's attack. "Seriously? Rubbing it in my face?" He got a an almost amused hoot in response.

Owl used Talon Strike, using 10 stamina and dealing 10 damage!

Flurryshine's eyes widened in fear when the owl swooped in to not only steal the frog right out from under Firepaw's nose, but score its talons into him. With a yowl of fury, Flurryshine raced out from where she hid observing behind a clump of reeds and leaped up to slam right into the owl's side. Digging her claws deep into one of its wings, she braced herself as she and the bird of prey both fell towards the river below. The air was knocked out of her when the two crashed into the water, but she refused to give in, digging her teeth into the back of its neck and pummeling its back with her hind claws.

Flurryshine used Underwater Clinch on Owl, dealing 9 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Owl is Stunned for one turn.

Gasping for breath once Flurryshine's head broke the surface of the river, she watched as the owl struggled to get back to shore, only to be ganged up on by Firepaw. Swiftly swimming up to it, she snarled before diving underwater again, twisting onto her back and brushing her back against the rocky ground to slash her claws into its underbelly. Twisting back up onto all fours, she swam out from underneath the bird of prey and climbed back up onto land, not even bothering to shake the water from out of her eyes as she normally would have. Right now, this battle needed all of her concentration, and even a moment of doing anything other than fighting this owl could very well result in the death of her apprentice and her former mentor's son.

Flurryshine used Half-Turn Belly Rake on Owl, dealing 11 damage and costing 20 stamina.

Owl is no longer Stunned.
