Zooming through that hunting patrol (closed)

Sitting near the camp entrance, Ryecloud waited for some cat to join him, and a cool early morning breeze ruffled his fur as he sat in silence. The disfigured tom had been abruptly woken up from a pain shooting up his left hind leg and while part of him had wanted to go see Dewpool about it, he decided not to, seeing that he probably wouldn't have been able to explain it well enough. So here he was, the lonely, awkward tom who woke up before sunrise way too often.

Poppycloud yawned, the crisp morning breeze cutting through her short fur. She stood up, padding slowly in Ryecloud's direction. The tom seemed already prepared for some early hunting, so she had decided to rise with the sun and accompany him in his mission to fill the fresh-kill pile. The she-cat yawned, not yet fully awake, as she reached him.  "Morning, Ryecloud," she greeted him. "If you're going hunting, I'll join you," she offered, giving him a small smile.

Hearing pawsteps approaching, Ryecloud turned to see Poppycloud, another one of WindClan's warriors. Listening to her speak, the tom gave a nod and stood up on wobbly legs. "Fets mo," the crooked jawed cat mumbled softly and began to limp out of the territory, knowing the she-cat would easily catch up.

After padding through the territory for a few moments, the pair made it to what was assumed to be near the center of the territory. "We bunt," Ryecloud mewed to Poppycloud, and with that, the crippled tom made his way away from his clanmate to sniff out prey. After a little bit of searching, a seemingly fresh scent hit his nose, and crouching down, he prepared himself to hunt.

Spotting a hare just a foxlength in front of him, Ryecloud stalked forward. Waiting a few moments, he lept forward as much as his single hind leg allowed him to, claws extended and teeth bared. With a squeal of surprise, the rabbit struggled under the weight of the cat, and sinking his teeth into the neck of the prey, Ryecloud put a quick end to its suffering. So far, so good.

Poppycloud's eyes landed on a small thrush, several fox-lengths away, but close enough that she was confident she could catch it. She dropped low, stalking it noiselessly. Her paws rose and fell with great deliberation, each movement perfectly timed and calculated. Once she had judged herself the correct distance from her prey, she took a deep breath and launched herself through the air. She landed nearly effortlessly, killing the bird with a swift blow from her paw.

OOC: lol forgive me if you wanted to hunt more, but I really don't wanna run into a predator and also rye cant really hunt much so it makes sense to stop early, plus we both caught something so it's finnneeee ;'D

IC: Already tired from the hunting that had been done, Ryecloud picked up his catch and made his way to where Poppycloud was, glad that they'd both caught some prey. "Bed back bow?" the crooked jawed tom asked, personally hoping that the she-cat would agree to heading back to camp.

Poppycloud shrugged. They had hardly caught anything, but she could see why the disabled tom wasn't terribly interested in the task. If she were him, she would spend as little time as possible outside of camp. "Alright, then," she agreed. "We can head back." She gathered the thrush in her jaws, flicked her tail, and began to trot at an easy pace back towards camp.

Glad that she didn't seem too disappointed, Ryecloud gave a nod. With his prey in his mouth, the crippled tom began to hobble back to camp with Poppycloud at his side. While they didn't do too much hunting, they at least had a successful hunt, which is was really mattered.
