Darkkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Swiftstep hopped up onto the Tallrock with a proud smile. A lucky tom-kit was leaving the nursery behind to become an apprentice, the next step of the journey to reaching warrior-hood. The deputy's face was fixed to a serious expression before he began. Although, he couldn't help but feel excitement for the kit. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather underneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" Swiftstep called with an authoritative tone.

Darkkit walked out of the nursery with his head held high. He knew exactly what this ceremony was about. The young tom sat down near the front of the gathering cats and looked up at the deputy with an expression that said 'I'm ready!' He couldn't be more primed even if he tried.

The deputy gazed down at the kit before continuing, "We all gather here today to make one of our kits an apprentice. Darkkit, please step forward." Once the young tom did, the deputy nodded approvingly and then began to speak again, "Darkkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Darkpaw. Badgerthorn will be your mentor. I know he will pass down everything he knows on to you."

Badgerthorn looked up as his name was called to mentor another apprentice. The charcoal tom padded through the crowd and touched noses with his new apprentice. "Look forward to working with you." The tom said softly. He wasn't one for words really ever.
