Flowerkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" Scorchclaw's voice resounded clearly throughout the camp. The large, fluffy tom stood tall on the Willow Branch, his sharp green eyes scanning the cats that were swiftly gathering before him. As a light breeze chose that moment to sweep by, the leaves of the overhanging boughs rustled noisily. Unsheathing his claws for a better grip, Scorchclaw shifted his stance slightly.

Flowerkit glanced up at Scorchclaw, her green eyes filled with excitement. She padded up to the willow branch and looked at the tom. She wondered who her mentor would be as cats began to gather around the willow branch.

It didn't take long before Scorchclaw officially started the apprentice ceremony. "Flowerkit," He mewed, his green gaze resting on the named she-cat, "step forward."

Scorchclaw had been consulting his mental list of possible mentors for Flowerkit since yesterday, and he had settled on one this morning. "Flowerkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Flowerpaw and your mentor will be Swiftheart." Exhaling softly as his part in the ceremony was over, he then jumped off the Willow Branch.
