Rowankit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!" The deputy called with a loud and firm voice as his clanmates started to gather around him. For a few seconds, he stayed there waiting for a specific kit to come: Rowankit, the youngest son of his friend, Tinytip, one of the she-cats who raised his own kits when they lost their mother. Jaystream felt in debt with the small she-cat and he had promised that he would look after her own family as she did for his. And now, he would have to choose a good mentor for her tom kit who was about to become an apprentice.

When Rowankit heard Jaystream's call, he quickly ran forward in excitement. He had no doubt that this was his apprentice ceremony, the one which he had excitedly waited for for such a long time. He had been aching for this very moment. But he felt a little prick of doubt. What if it wasnt his ceremony? His Clanmates would remember him forever as a mouse-brained kit.

The Riverclan deputy finally spotted the tomkit he was looking for and with a flick of his tail, he started the ceremony. "Rowankit, please step forward." He mewed calmly.

"Rowankit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Rowanpaw. Your mentor will be Cinderfall, my former apprentice. I hope he passes you the strength, loyalty and wisdom that every Riverclan warrior must have." Jaystream announced, his feathery tail held up proudly. He fixed his green eyes on his son and newly made mentor and he nodded at him, trusting he was now to take care of an apprentice on his own. After all, Jaystream trained him moons ago and he knew he was going to be a good mentor for a young tom like Rowanpaw.

Rowanpaw's eyes flared up with delight when he heard Jaystream's words. He was finally an apprentice now! Now he would be sleeping in a completely different den from the one he had slept in since he was born. Although it was a bit nerve-wracking to sleep away from Tinytip and the place he was so familiar in, he felt excitement at the thought of it. Then he quickly realized what to do and stepped forward to touch noses with Cinderfall.

Cinderfall touched noses with his new apprentice. "I won't fail you, Rowanpaw. You'll be an amazing warrior."
