Newtface padded out of the warriors' den with a neutral expression on his face. It was early, quiet, and prey was beginning to stir out in the territory. While he'd prefer to stay in his nest and sleep, the tom knew that being a warrior meant that responsibilities came with it. He couldn't be lazy... he wasn't lazy. Sure, maybe he had some sloth-like thoughts sometimes, but he never actually carried them out. Despite the fact that the sun wasn't completely up in the sky, cats were still padding out of their dens and wandering around the camp. He didn't want to wake up the cats that were still asleep, but he had to call for some apprentices and warriors somehow. He let out a yowl, but it wasn't as loud as he'd normally call.
"Any cats up for a hunting patrol?"

Tansyheart padded out of the warrior den, yawning widely. She had been awake for a short time, but hadn't brought herself to get up yet. Shaking out her dark pelt, she slowly made her way over to Newtface. "I am, I guess," she muttered sleepily. She blinked away the blurriness from her blue eyes. It's too early to be up, she thought, but it's a good time for prey, at least.

Unlike Tansyheart and Newtface, Cedarstorm woke up even earlier than them and was actually wondering what to do when the other warrior called for a hunting patrol. The brown tabby she-cat ran to her clanmates and flicked her tail, energetically. ”I want to join too. Hunting patrols are the best to start the day!” She mewed with a wide smile.

Newtface nodded towards Tansyheart as a quick sign of greetings. One cat had joined him so far. If it was a tiny patrol, then the tom wouldn't care. When Cedarstorm came over, the tom couldn't help but blink in surprise at her enthusiasm and energy. He still felt tired and groggy, but an excited presence but lighten the mood and wake him up a bit. With a flick of his tail to show his approval, the speckled tom put on a small smile.
"Cool, I suppose we can head off, now. I don't want a huge patrol." Newtface said.
He turned to lead the two she-cats out of camp. This was the first patrol that the tom was leading as a warrior, and he was determined to make it a great one.

Tansyheart followed Newtface sluggishly out of camp, paws dragging. Maybe a bit of hunting would be enough to wake her up a bit. She hoped she would at least be alert enough not to make a fool of herself in front of her former mentor. Shaking her head, she focused on Newtpaw's form ahead of her, willing her eyes to stay open.

The beautiful brown tabby she-cat agreed with Newtface giving the other warrior a reassuring nod. Even if he was younger than her, Cedarstorm didn’t mind he leading the patrol. She followed the tom keeping her good mood as she walked by Tansyheart’s side. ”How have you been, Tansyheart? Are you doing fine now that you’re a warrior?” She purred looking at her former apprentice.

Once the trio had padded out far enough into the territory, Newtface decided that it was about time for them to start hunting. He lifted his speckled muzzle up slightly so that he could let the various scents flood his nose. This spot was perfect. He glanced over his shoulder to look at the two she-cats on the patrol. He noticed that Tansyheart still looked tired, but Cedarstorm still seemed enthusiastic.
"Okay," The calico cat began, "We can split up from here and catch as much prey as we can carry. Once we're done, we can meet up again and head back."

"I've been doing well," Tansyheart replied. "Putting my training to good use, I hope. I can't say I miss apprentice duties, either." She smiled at Cedarstorm before padding quickly a short ways away to search for prey. Ears pricked, she soon spotted a mouse. Dropping into a calculated hunting crouch, the dark-pelted she-cat pounced. She came down hard, missing the mouse by a mere tail-width. She shook her head in frustration and bounded off to try again.

The brown she-cat smiled back at the young warrior before walking away to start the patrol. Her experienced nose soon found the scent of prey and the warrior crouched down when she saw a slight movement next to a dead tree. Moving slowly trough the snow, the she-cat approached her objective and then leaped toward it. Her fangs sunk into the flesh of a plump dove and, with a strong movement of her head, she broke its neck, killling it swiftly. Cedarstorm buried the fresh-kill and then started to search for more.

Newtface spotted a frog a couple of mouse-lengths away after he turned away from the group. The tom narrowed his yellow eyes as he crouched down and stared at the creature. Making sure that his tail wasn't noisily dragging through the snow, the warrior crept forwards and kept the frog in the center of his sight. Pausing for a few moments, the tom stiffened, before he pushed himself out of the snow and through the air. With claws unsheathed, he landed on top of the frog and swiftly killed it with a merciless swipe to the head. Pride and triumph glittering in his eyes, Newtface buried his prey and padded on to find more.

Still frustrated from her previous mistake, Tansyheart spotted a lizard a few tail lengths away. She stalked it quietly for a few moments, keeping her tail down and her haunches high, before she made her move. She landed right on top of it, killing it with a swift blow to the head. She kicked some snow over it and returned to her hunt.
