Echopaw's Warrior Ceremony

Crowstar called out to his clan. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for a clan meeting!"

Echopaw trotted to the leader, grinning. It was her time.

"Today we are gathered here to turn another apprentice into a warrior." Crowstar said. Looking down at his clan, his eyes looked at Echopaw. "Echopaw please come forward." The leader said.

Echopaw walked forward, coming closer to her leader and her mentor.

"I, Crowstar, leader of Skyclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Echopaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Crowstar asked.

Mintpaw was there the entire time because ohmygod please


The small tabby-cat watched with wonder as Echopaw stepped forward, her murky green eyes wide and her mouth half-open in awe. Her very own friend was becoming a warrior right in front of her eyes! How exciting!

Echopaw glanced back at Mintpaw, a grin on her face. Turning back to Crowstar, she dipped her head. "I do." She struggled to maintain her composure.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Echopaw, from this day forward you shall be known as Echoflame. Skyclan honors your courage and battle creativity. Congratulations." Crowstar said. He remembered how Echopaw was so eager to show him what she had learned, and her battle prowess was amazing. The name fit her well.

Mumblepaw had been there the whole time. His eyes widened as he watched his sister stand before the clan like many cats before them, and receive her warrior name. The corner of the tiny black and white tom's maw faltered. For the first time, he wished he would be standing up there with her. He had barely trained at all and here she was standing before the clan and making their father proud. Little, tail-less Mumblepaw felt the stab of shame and guilt once more. It seemed as if his chance to be good enough would never come, just like the talent or bravery to get him there. As the rest of the clan called out, he softly chanted her name with as much enthusiasm as he could manage under the circumstances.

"Echoflame! Echoflame!" The deputy yowled. He was seated near the front of the clan, blue eyes shining with an immense pride. Another one of his kits had grown to be able to fully serve the clan. Rippedsky was so focused on the ceremony that he did not notice his other kit sulking in the background.

Echoflame purred in happiness, nuzzling Crowstar and then giving a lick to Rippedsky. Echoflame was such a great name!
