Mintpaw sighed and struggled out of the apprentice's den, dragging her feet. Her rumpled, messy fur was annoyingly thick thanks to the upcoming Leafbare, and she was still sore from her latest bout of training. She had to admit that being an apprentice was harder than she anticipated.
The light-colored tabby frowned and stumbled towards the Fresh-Kill pile, grabbing a skinny vole and wolfing it down before trotting towards the camp entrance, where she was supposed to join a dawn patrol.

Dandeliondapple grunted as she joined Mintpaw, "Cold winds are on their way. We need much more than... that," she said, her bushy tail sweeping through the trodden snow to gesture to the sorry excuse for a fresh-kill pile.
