Poppysong's Elder Ceremony

He was getting old wasn't he? His mate was retiring.. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for a clan meeting!" The leader called out to his clan. His mate was still by his side, but she was no longer a warrior. She served her clan well.

Poppysong padded up to the leader, her hazel eyes avoiding the black tom as much as she could. The pair had barely spoken since... since her most recent litter. She couldn't bring herself to look at him. Not after what she had done.

The leader glanced down to his mate for a single moment. He still hadn't really forgiven her for what she had done, but at this point it didn't seem to matter anymore. "Tonight we are gathered to celebrate all that a warrior has done for us in her life. Poppysong is it your wish to retire from the rank of
a warrior and join the elders' den?" The leader asked.

Poppysong paused, her voice stuck in her throat behind a lump that nearly choked her. The she-cat nodded, swallowing hard before squeaking out the words, "It is."
