It's About 'Thyme' (Closed for Owltalon)

Finchstream led the way down to the riverside on paws shaking from nervousness, though she tried her very best not to show it. For a while she had been procrastinating taking Thymepaw out for training, but she had soon began to feel bad for the young she-cat. Keeping her cooped up and lying to her about being 'busy' only made her guilt stronger, so here she was. Glancing behind her, she forced a smile down at her apprentice as she took a seat on the bank, signaling with her tail for Thymepaw to do the same. Hunting was easy, she was fine with that...battle training on the other paw...StarClan help her.

Thymepaw hadn't been a bit happy with her mentor keeping her cooped up at camp. The feathery furred she cat had been anxious to go out of camp learn to fight and to hunt but that hadn't happen until now. She followed her mentor quietly sitting down as they came to the bank"so....are we going to hunt?"She asked curious her sleek face relaxed and curious but that didn't stop the she cat from being a bit judgy as if at any moment her mentor would say no and they would return to camp with being cooped up once again.

Finchstream nodded, summoning all of her confidence as she purred; "Yes, once again I'm sorry it's taken this long to get to.  Now, watch closely."  Settling down into a crouching position, the petite she-cat's fluffy tail waved slowly side to side as she concentrated, watching the clear pool before her with eager golden eyes.  Watching...waiting...quickly paid off!  A sleek, meaty looking trout swam into range, her paw quivering with anticipation as the fish flicked it's multi-colored tail, sending it gliding ever closer towards the two watching felines.  In a flash, the silver tabby lashed out a white paw into the freezing water, hooking the fish and flinging it up out of the river.  It flew in a high arc until it flopped down hard onto the bank, stunned for a brief moment.  Before it could even squirm though, Finchstream had dashed forward and cracked the animal's spine between her teeth, an immaculate kill.  She had even broken the skin in an area that barely bled, that which she was grateful for.  With a faintly prideful smile, she turned to Thymepaw and flicked her ears towards the waterway before them.  "Now that you've seen a successful catch, why don't you try?  I'll correct your technique as you go."
