Hailkit, Darkkit, and Sootkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats o-old enough to capture their o-own prey gather u-underneath J-Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" the leader called, perched on the large rock.

Hailkit ran out of the nursery."Darkkit! Sootkit! Come on, whe're becoming apprentices!"

At his brother's call, Sootkit dashed out of the nursery to his leader.

Darkkit hurried after both of his brothers, not wanting to miss out on anything. “I hope I get a good mentor!” He exclaimed as he stopped beside Hailkit and Sootkit.

Crowfur proudly went out of the nursery behind his sons. They were to become apprentices today so he couldn't miss this. He gave each one a lick on the head. "Go and make me proud." he said to them quietly. The warrior then sat down beside Cedarstorm, purring all the while.

Sootkit grinned at his father. He couldn't wait to become an apprentice and eventually a warrior. This is the first big step, he thought determinedly.

Cedarstorm left the nursery along her mate, happy to see that her sons were already big enough to be apprentices. The brown tabby she-cat was sure that this was their ceremony and just like their father, she licked some messy fur on their head so they would look impeccable for this special day. She sat down next to Crowfur, leaning her head into his dark-furred pelt as she watched how all of them approached the meeting place.

Ashkit sat next to his mother, excited about what was going on, though he stayed quiet. The nervousness ate away at him.

"Hailkit, Darkkit, S-Sootkit, please s-step forward." The leader called out. "You all have reached t-he age of six moons, and are n-now ready to be a-apprenticed. From this day f-forth, until you receive y-your warrior names, you shall b-be known as H-Hailpaw, Darkpaw, and Sootpaw. Y-Your mentors shall be Rowantalon, Ryeheart, a-and Crowfur, r-respectively . C-Congratulations."

The newly-named Sootpaw purred at the sound of his name, whooping happily when Magpiestar announced Crowfur, Sootpaw's role model and favourite warrior, to be his mentor.

Crowfur was suprised but proud. His sons were going to be the best of the best. His father Rowantalon, Ryeheart, a very respected warrior, and himself were mentors for his kits. Crowfur couldn't be any happier. He touched noses with Sootpaw. "Your training will start at Dawn. Make sure to rest up! I promise you that you'll be one of the greatest warriors Shadowclan has ever seen." The dark furred tom turned and walked away.

Cedarstorm purred gladly hearing the names of her kit's mentors, especially Sootpaw's. With a proud smile, she looked how his mate approached the black and white tom, touching noses. Crowfur was going to be a good influence on him. The tabby she-cat couldn't ask for better mentors. Rowantalon was a strong warrior and their grandfather, and Ryeheart was respected by all the clan after what he did during the Dark Forest attack. They would teach them well.

However, her gaze turned back to Ashkit, a bit sad and worried that he didn't get his ceremony on the same day as his brothers. Licking his head lovingly, she looked at him with warm eyes. "Don't worry, my dear. You'll be an apprentice just like your brothers in no time. I'll make sure of that."

Ashkit nodded. Even if he didn't become an apprentice today like his brothers, he was proud of them. And he would get to join thrm soon.

Hailpaw grinned and touched noses with Rowantalon. He hadn't expected that his grandfather would mentor him. "I promise I'll work hard!"

Rowantalon's hazel eyes flashed as his name was called, and he padded forward to greet Hailpaw. His grandson reminded Rowantalon of his days as an apprentice, with his too-big paws and stubborn pride. He would grow into a strong warrior, and possibly a clan leader, if he stayed on the right path. Rowantalon was determined to do right by him.

"Training starts bright and early tomorrow," Rowantalon mewed sternly. "Don't be late."
