Russetkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats of Skyclan old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" Rippedsky's yowl rang through the clearing. His claws scored the tallbranch once more. There had been a lot of ceremonies lately, something he was grateful for. The deputy's blue eyes scanned the clearing as he waited for the clan to assemble.

As soon as he heard Rippedsky's call, Russetkit scrambled out of the nursery and ran to the Tallbranch. Swanpetal had told him that he'd become and apprentice today. "This is it! This is it!" He whispered to himself.

"Russetkit, please step forwards." Rippedsky called as soon as the kit joined the crowd. It was finally time to have him officially join the rank of apprentice. A soft smile wormed its way onto his maw. As soon as Russetkit padded forwards, the deputy continued, "We gather once more to name another young cat as one of the clan's apprentices. Russetkit is old enough to begin training. From this day forwards, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Russetpaw. Tinylegs will be your mentor. I expect he will pass on all of his wisdom to you." Rippedsky had no doubt his warrior could handle it. This would not be his first apprentice and he knew the older tom would be a great mentor to Russetpaw, even if they had their differences.

Russetpaw lifted his chin proudly. He was an apprentice now!

Hearing his name called, the senior warrior stood up and made his way to the front of the rather large crowd and stood in front of Russetpaw who was of course taller than him, just like every other cat in the clan. "I can't wait to start training with you," the little tom mewed with a smile and leaned towards newly named apprentice to touch noses.

Russetpaw purred and puffed out his chest. He was surprised that his mentor was a tiny bit smaller than him, but he heard that Tinylegs was a great warrior. "I will try my hardest!"
