Curlykit and Mistkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" Rippedsky recited the call easily. Another apprentice was to be named today. His own daughter's kit. A crashing wave of nostalgia hit the tom as he waited for the clan to gather below. It seemed like just yesterday he had done Bubblemist's apprentice ceremony. A soft smile edged its way to his lips as he looked down, eyes picking through the crowd for the young kit. As had run in the family, the kit bore a memory of her relative's blindness. However, he had no doubt that with some determination and training, the kit could become just as successful. His eyes caught sight of the other kit to be named an apprentice today. Mistkit. Much like his name, his origins were shrouded in a bit of mist. But, given it was Wildstorm's kit, he bore Crowstar's blood. Both would be wonderful warriors.

Curlykit's pelt was sticking out of the multitude of cats, her chest puffed out. I'm gonna be an apprentice before Lichenkit! she thought proudly, her feeling spiked with spite. Her curly fur had been licked clean by her mother, in preparation for the ceremony. The kit had found a way to get it sticking out oddly in numerous places neverless.

Mistkit and Wildstorm headed to the Tallbranch at Rippedsky's calling. Mistkit was curious; he wasn't sure what was happening. His father knew, however. It was time for Mistkit's apprentice ceremony. It seemed like only yesterday he had found the smaller version of himself with Wolffang on the outskirts of SkyClan territory. Both gray cats looked to the pseudo-leader and waited patiently.

"Curlykit, Mistkit, please step forwards." Rippedsky meowed when he spotted the two kits in the clearing below. He already knew who their mentors would be and he was interested in seeing how they would progress in their training. The deputy was particularly interested in seeing how Curlykit would do. Her determination would give her the potential, despite her disabilities, to do well. Mistkit would be in his sights as well. Finally, he called out again to finish the ceremony, "We gather once more to name another couple young cats as clan apprentices. Curlykit and Mistkit are old enough to begin training. From this day forwards, until you receive your warrior names, you will be known as Curlypaw and Mistpaw. Cloudroar will be mentor to Curlypaw. He is an excellent warrior and will train you up to be the same. As for Mistpaw, Poppysong will mentor you. She is experienced and level-headed, both of which I know she will pass onto you. " Knowing of Curlypaw's poor sight, he made sure to speak clearly instead of also gesturing with his tail. Afterwards, he leaped down to congratulate them both.

Curlypaw frowned. She noticed with her one good eye how the deputy made an effort to limit his movements. She wanted to snap at him, but the apprentice kept her cool and padded rowards her new mentoe to touch noses. Cloudroar was her uncle, and he was blind. Why does Rippedsky treat me like a kit? she mumbled to herself.

Cloudroar grunted in surprise as his father announced him as Curlypaw's mentor. He knew that Rippedsky believed in him, but he didn't know that he believed in him so much as to give him an apprentice. Well here's another chance to prove myself. He thought, tail tip flicking slightly as he padded up to the new apprentice to touch noses with her, his niece. "Training will start soon, you might want to eat first." He meowed, nodding towards the freshkill pile.
