Asterkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting," the spotted leader shouted.

Asterkit raised her head up, blinking in confusion before she registered what Fishstar was saying. She quickly stood up from where she'd been napping in the Nursery, walked outside and sat down near the willow branch. She looked at the leader with wide, curious eyes.

Flowerpetal padded out of the warrior's den, yawning slightly as she sat down, flashing a grin at the small kit she had met the other day.

Sunpaw came closer with curiosity in his glowing eyes. Ginger tom with white underbelly sat down near other cats waiting and tried to guess who would be the mentor of this kit.

"Asterkit," she meowed, "please step forward."

Asterkit noticed a few cats lingering around now, and gave Flowerpetal a small smile. As soon as the leader called her name, she stepped forward, trying to keep her expression serious. This was a very important day.

"Asterkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and are now ready to be apprenticed. From this day forth, you shall be known as Asterpaw. Tinytip will be your mentor, whom I trust will shape you into a formidable warrior." The leader dipped her head to end the ceremony and leaped off of the willow branch.

Asterkit--or rather, Asterpaw, now--nodded her head in understanding. She padded over to her new mentor with, eyes bright with excitement, and touched noses.

Tinytip eyes looked with sadness at the leader, then, to her new apprentice. With slow steps, the little she-cat approached the young cat and touched noses with her. But her amber eyes showed her hidden sadness. She still remembered her old apprentice and didn't want to lost another one. "Training starts tomorrow" She meowed quietly.
