Light up the Sky | {Closed for Ripped}

The Sun was farther down in the sky, although it had not graced the horizon. A light peach-ish color formed as far as he could see with his little eyes, the peach like color blended with the sky's blue tone and formed the literal most beautiful color he had seen in his short life thus far. Lightkit looked around with excitement, taking in the extraordinary views he had not been able to see in his time at the nursery. Well he still lived in the nursery, but had rarely gone out. Mostly because he had been scared of what was out there, but now that he had seen what was actually out there he felt stupid for feeling afraid.

An Excited mew arose from his throat and formed as a high pitched noise. He jumped around the clearing, kicking up small dust clouds as he did so. He was happy, and he wanted to show he was happy. Searching for someone to play with he looked around waiting for someone to appear.

Rippedsky was exhausted, to say the least. His duties, per usual, had kept him on his paws constantly. Having to take up both the role of the leader and deputy was time consuming and hectic. The elder warriors had helped to ease the burden. However, the black and white tom would never take the burden off of himself. It was what he was good at. The weight of it all pressed on his shoulders, in turn causing them to slump forwards. There was no time to rest, no matter how much his body screamed for him to do so. Before setting off to throw him himself into yet another hunting patrol, his ear twitched at a disturbance in the camp. The sound of tiny paws scuffling across the earth caused him to turn his head around. Instantly, his deep blue eyes settled on the tiny kit. Lightkit, his youngest son.

After having so many other litters of a couple kits, Cherrymist had finally bore a single kit in her latest birth. All of his children had become a big pride of his. Not only did they all have the markings of fine warriors, save for Willowpaw who was still finding his way, but they gave him true kin within Skyclan. A weary smile curved up the edges of his maw as he looked down at the young tom kit. There was a joy in his spirit that was refreshing to the much older cat. It appeared as if Lightkit was looking for some excitement. Being cooped up in camp all day was a lot for a kit to handle, likewise for the queens. Abandoning his original intentions, the deputy turned to look down at his youngest kit.

"Have you explored the whole camp yet, young one?" Rippedsky meowed down at his fluffy look-alike. Amusement shone in the pools of deep blue that made up his eyes. He stretched out a long forepaw to tap the kit on his head. All kits were born with a short attention span. The warrior tom hoped to at least capture the kit's attention for a brief moment. Time for his offspring was the only thing that seemed to force the overexerted deputy into a short time of rest. All thoughts of exasperation were laid to rest as he looked down at the soft black and white bundle of fluff.

"Well, maybe I should start of by showing you the medicine cat den then." The slim black and white cat meowed down to light kit as he suppressed a chuckle. The kit's reaction might have come off as troublesome to some of their clanmates, but as a father, Rippedsky enjoyed the amusing yowl of the fluffy bi-colored kit. He dipped his neck to nudge Lightkit with his nose. If anyone could fix hurting pads, it would be Rabbitfoot. The weak smile barely waved on his maw and they padded over to the medicine cat den. An aromatic mixture of several herbs hit his scent glands all at once. The deputy was not sure how medicine cats were every able to adjust to the overpowering smells. His nose wrinkled up at the wild combination of all the dried plants. He glanced down at Lightkit, looking for some sort of reaction from his son. There was no doubt in the older tom's mind he would have some comment about it.

"It may smell funny in here, but the medicine cats can fix anything." He touched his tail to the little kit's pelt before calling out, "Rabbitfoot?" Rippedsky called out to the medicine cat.

It wasn't too often that Rabbitfoot had visitors in her and Oceanlight's den. Usually she was the one that made her rounds to everyone else, but it was a delightful surprise to see Rippedsky followed by a small kit who looked more than excited to step into her den. "Rippedsky!" She mewed, getting up from her resting spot to meet them, her crystal blue eyes gently resting upon the young kit following behind the deputy. "Who might this little one be?" Rabbitfoot asked, a purr escaping her maw.

"They can most certainly fix anything. Both Rabbitfoot and Oceanlight are incredibly gifted." A purr rumbled in his throat at the kit's excitement. Not a moment later, Rabbitfoot appeared. Her pelt was thick with the strong scent of herbs. The deputy's nose twitched slightly at the smell, but he gave no indication it bothered him at all. His eyes looked down at Lightkit and a smile was evident in his words as he meowed, "This is my youngest son, Lightkit." His nose nudged the little tom forwards so he was right in front of the medicine cat. Rippedsky urged the kit to show Rabbitfoot his pads. There was no doubt the sweet medicine cat would be able to fix it.

"So how have things been in here?" He meowed casually, trying to make conversation. Since he had joined the clan, she had always been kind to him. In fact, Rippedsky considered her one of his first friends in Skyclan. But they were both far too busy to speak often. It was nice now to get the chance to do so, while also spending time with his son. The fluffy bundle of energy had certainly brightened his day.
