What's your Roleplaying past?

Some context; Earlier today I was contemplating how I started Roleplaying so many years ago. I started with Horse forums, then wolves, then joined a yaoi forum. Unfortunately, those forums all closed down throughout the years or lost either by inactivity or ... well. The yaoi one hit a legal snag by some overzealous parents. Now adays, I'm here, and sometimes on another mature forum.

I can't be the only one though with an extended history in roleplaying, so I'm curious. What have you rped in the past? Would you ever go back if you either could or if you could rewind it back to a previous time?

With so many horse and wolf forums out there, I'm probably never going to find the old forums I used to be on, but even if I could... I probably wouldn't.

Oh, I still RP to this day with another good friend of mine! For a little over a year, coming up on two years, a good friend of mine approached me wanting to have a roleplay based around the characters of the 2015 Indies video game Undertale, and we're still having a fun RP of that since.

Before that on DeviantArt I've RPed with a LOT of people over the years before... well, before DA kicked me off because the Staff is horrible and irresponsible, blaming me for something I didn't even do and not even listening to reason. Anyway, yeah, I've had loads of RP experience over the years! ^^

I started out roleplaying on a kids MMO called Animal Jam YEARS ago, where I rped random stuff like wolves and other animals.  One day I started seeing a bunch of these 'clans' around, and decided to make one of my own after finding out the ranks.  I hadn't read Warriors at that point though so everything was messed up and some people came to tell me I was doing everything wrong xD

Later on I joined another MMO called FeralHeart and started formally roleplaying there.  I started out with wolves and other random creatures (again), but it was there that I finally learned about Warriors and started reading the books, and I got hooked instantly.  Ever since then I've mostly only rped Warriors.

On FeralHeart I ran across this really great group called The Great Forest; it was a Warriors rp with the four original clans in the forest territories before the canon history.  It was my first experience when it came to a roleplay group where most of the members were tight-knit friends, and I was super grateful to meet and roleplay with everyone on there.  Soon after I joined though the group shut down, and I decided to stop playing FeralHeart because it was getting kinda old after about 3 years of playing.

And that's when I discovered...WCC!  -angel singing and trumpet sounds-

I was just browsing around on the Internet for Warriors stuff and ran across one of those voting sites that ranks roleplaying websites.  I clicked on the #1 site and it brought me here, and so that's how I got trapped forever on this cat hellsite xD  This was also the first roleplay I've been involved in that was solely based on a forum, since before then I only roleplayed in a game-setting where replies were almost instantaneous.  For some reason I thought that forum role-plays would be less fun since you didn't get to see your character while you were writing, but BOY was I wrong! xD

time for some ye-olde drippy history

I started roleplaying waaaay back in the waybacks on something you kids like to call Animal Jam. Simple National Geographic website, pretty average stuff. I was what you call... hip.
But then a bunch of rad teenagers joined the site. They were cool. They were edgy. They probably weren't that great in real life because they were 14 and playing animal ja, but they flamed me so I left.
Little did I know that leaving would be the best decision I would ever make. Not more than a week later I was surfing Internet Explorer one day and discovered what could possibly be the edgiest, most random, most terribly-designed game ever.

Wolfquest.
If I was hip on Animal Jam, I was positively litfam on Wolfquest. Everyone knew me, even the super edgy people who though eyes were called orbs and ears were called audits.
I was a roleplaying fanatic. I made up slang. I flamed the flamers. I became the sjw. I sometimes even posted more than 4 sentences, and I only sometimes said "Rawr" *bites u*. I was the duke, nay, the king of the 8-year-old wolf nerds.
Those were the days.
But, like every terrible book in existence, the good days weren't going to last longer than 10 amazing, nerdy, social life destroying months.
Everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.
Wolfquest was updating.
It cost 10 whole buckaroos to buy the updated version. Little baby me was devastated. Heartbroken. All my hard-won nerdy popularity would be gone, and all because I had no idea what saving money felt like. At that point in my life I had probably never held on to something more than two quarters for longer than an hour.
Luckily for me, not everyone bought the new, updated, probably much better version. Some of us (mostly the nerdy kids who were afraid to ask their parents for 10 bucks or something idk) stayed behind to try and salvage whatever was left of our once-great wolfnerd trashflaming empire.
Needless to say, we failed.
But, as the Great Wreck came to a close, a new nation of losers who couldn't actually use the real internet rose to the surface.
Warrior Cats Roleplayers.
They were new. They were shiny. They used wolves as characters but roleplayed as Warrior Cats. They were possibly even more litfam than I was.
Obviously, I had to learn their ways.
It was hard at first. I bought a few books, fought my way through the first story arc, and read many a synopsis on Warriors Wiki, but my time was well-spent, and I quickly rose to the top once more. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

But this new era of Warrior Cats could only last so long. The second wave of roleplayers lit a fire in my very being, one that could not be satisfied on Wolfquest. I packed by edgiest characters (Leafpouncer, Sunbeam, Gingerslash, Rowanstar and Flowerdance) and decided to leave.
Then I looked up Warrior Cat Roleplay, and found the magical land of WCC. A new place where nothing edgy ever happened and I was free to suck at roleplaying.

Oh boy my RP past.......

I have 3 eras of RPing

Era 1: Youtube streams. Nice starting place I know. I joined in many of these streams, many of them undertale themed. This led to me to start creating OCs. Some of these I still use today, but I stopped going to these streams.

Era 2: Discord. One of my online friends asked me a simple question, "Have you ever RPed before?" I answered yes and then he invited me to Pokemon RP discord. This was my real start to RPing. At first, I was really bad, but then I got better at it and with that RP i made my favorite RP character and started to make deep characters. I still RP with these people that I RPed with on another discord sever to this day.

Era 3: WCC. Surprize! This is era 3. How did I find this place? Simple, I got bored. I had RPed before I really liked Warrior Cats. You can put two and two together. This wasn't even the first thing that poped up on Google. It was just the first one that looked like I could do it easily. Soooooo here I am! I've had alot of fun moments here. No regrets.

Ohhh boy, my roleplaying history is... Complicated. As far as where it started, it was around 2009. I joined a couple forums and didn't stick around long, and eventually in December of 2010 I found WCC. But that, combined with my mother's helicopter parent tendencies, didn't last long (well, it did, but with a lot of very long hiatuses). Also, I was 11, and I sucked.

So, flash forward to like, 2013, I made some friends on a non-roleplay forum and one of them is still one of my best friends to this day. We made a Skype group with some of our other friends, and in 2015 that friend suggested a roleplay group that only runs week-long things infrequently. Between 2015 and 2017, that was most of my roleplaying experience.

In 2016 we all abandoned Skype for Discord, though the infrequent group didn't switch over til 2017 (and there's still one or two people who complain about it, but Discord is just... Better overall for most of us, so majority ruled there.)

In 2017, I started doing more roleplay stuff with friends again, and when summer rolled around I thought I'd check in on WCC since it was such a big part of my early roleplaying experiences. And the rest is history.

I started off with the Wings of Fire Scholastic Forums, and Animal Jam. Then I found this place, didn't really get it, then a few years later rejoined.

I started roleplaying on roblox then I searched up other sites. I RPed this site before the others but I joined whitewolfmoutain right after. After I got kicked off whitewolf mountain because of "bad grammar" I joined wolfplay and that's where I am now.

A long time ago, on a site far, far away... I played Animal Jam.

I loved animals, and cartoons, so me, who was... I don't know, 9? I'm guessing here. Joined this *magnificent* site. I joined way back in the old days, too. I gained a bunch of friends and was very happy. Then, these 'rare items' came along and I had ALL OF THEM. I was ecstatic. I got more friends because of this. But when my membership ran out, I said, 'oopsie whoopsie! uwu' and traded them all away for stuff I could sell. When I realized my mistake -- just because I lost my membership, didn't mean I wasn't valuable -- I was sad, and quit.

Then, I discovered Warrior Cats. I discovered it from Wolves of the Beyond, and one of my old Animal Jam friends said: 'Wolves of the Beyond? You know what you'd love?' And so I began reading it, and joined Warrior Cats Online.

I played for a while, but my posts were measly little one-liners that I would only do nowadays if I had no muse. All of them were like that. (No hate against one-liners; it's cool fam, but if I write a wall of text PLEASE don't respond with: '"Hi," said Greypaw.') I moved on, and yes, my history is practically a mix of all of yours, because my next game was...

...Wolfquest. Yep. This ain't even it. My lovely little character was a female wolf that... changed genders every time I roleplayed her. I literally couldn't decide. I met a few friends, but none of them were permanent, and I didn't know how to play the game well.

Next! Discord. Here's the site where I made jokes and would literally start CRYING because they were so hilarious. I actually enjoyed myself and I don't regret this part. RPing wasn't even the most of it. It was hanging out with my friends for 3 years and making amazing memories.


Now I have WCC and Cereal Soup. So, that's that!

Ooof man everyone has extensive things. I did a warriors roleplay as a kiddo, called Dreams of Warrior Cats 2. It was the 1st incarnation of Ripped and he was leader of Windclan. I might have done 1 more with the same deal? But I don't remember... I wish I could remember my other characters too heck.

That was.. 8 years ago? I'm not sure.

Wcc is my only other thing and all I've done recently besides breifly dabbling in Beata and trying to start a site... I jumped into RP needing a writing outlet in college so the required writing didn't make me sad. Not too exciting haha

This is the first online roleplaying site I've been on.

Before that I've played D&D and some warriors rp with my friends, but never online.

I have a, uh, decent history with roleplaying.
Like many others, it all started on Animal Jam. I joined Animal Jam in late 2014, and at the time, I didn't even know Warriors existed. Later on, in about early-ish 2015, I found my first Warriors book in a Barnes n' Noble store, Into the Wild. I had no idea what the book was about-- me being my youngster self, I chose it because it had a cool cover. Ironically, this was just before they started implementing the new covers, I believe. When I realized other people on Animal Jam on people did roleplays for this book series, I hopped right in, not even knowing the concept of roleplaying. I quickly learned, however. The first roleplay I joined was a ThunderClan one. Many members of this roleplay were advertising this roleplay, so I decided to go and join it. Before the roleplay let anyone join, you had to go through a series of questions to determine whether or not you actually read the series. I failed most, if not all the questions since they were mostly based on the Super Editions or series past Power of Three when I was still on Fire and Ice. Afterward, I was rejected to join that roleplay.
How Animal Jam works:
You have your own 'den'. Roleplays are usually hosted in the Leader's den. Dens in Animal Jam aren't made for the sole purpose of roleplaying, they're basically just your house or safe haven.
You have the option to leave your den only open to your friends, open to everyone, or to lock everyone out.

Oftentimes, people would refuse to leave, so the leader would have to friend the accepted roleplayers and then lock out the remaining people. Ironically, I remembered the leader's username, and for whatever reason, they unlocked it after locking everyone out, so I went back into their den. Locked me out again. I was sorrowful but decided I would go and find another roleplay to join. I joined many small roleplays that died quickly or that I left quickly. I slowly developed to be a better roleplayer and got farther and farther into the books.
That was when I found BloodClan.
I have very, very good memories from BloodClan, and likely the roleplay I lasted the longest in. Unlike this site, everyone had a role from the actual books. My role was Bone, the deputy, and I was very close friends with the roleplayer for Scourge, in roleplay and out of roleplay. The Clan eventually just..disappeared. The leader came on very rarely, and so did other people. A lot of drama happened within that timespan. Having people coming and going. Arguing that the roleplay wasn't realistic enough. Throughout that time, I stuck by the leader's side. Then, of course, it slowly died.
After that, I joined another roleplay, one that I do not remember the name of. I barely remember roleplaying there at all. It was usually just controversy about the Clan itself outside of the roleplay. I left, due to others leaving also.
I quit roleplaying after that, and then my time on Animal Jam steadily decreased. I just lost interest and had joined other websites. After probably 7 months, I returned to Animal Jam, only focusing on rares and trading. I discovered my love for roleplaying yet again, and I discovered a website called Animal Jam Clans, or something similar to that. It was where people could advertise and organize their roleplays professionally, but all the roleplaying still happened in Animal Jam. I came and went for a few of these.
After that, I quit roleplaying again, and Animal Jam altogether. I felt like I wasted too much stress and time on AJ, since other things out of Animal Jam roleplaying, but still in Animal Jam, had caused me problems. I still resist the urge to rejoin, because I know I'm going to lose interest again and again, and only waste my time.
I spent an extremely long time period on other websites without any mention of roleplaying.
When I got farther into the Warriors series, I realized how much I still missed roleplaying. I had seen roleplaying sites before and was uninterested, but it just called to me. I searched up "warrior cats rp forum," and this was the first thing that showed up. Best decision in my roleplay entirety. 
So yeah. That's one way to explain it. I could've gone into a much more thorough, in-depth explanation, but ain't nobody got time for that. I just hope this story turned out decent since I was really just rambling.
