The cold is unbearable

The cold it was to much for Darkkit. He always did have a problem with the cold and frankly the young tom didn't have parents who could warm him up just an empty nest and there he lay cold and dead.

Waterkit gasped at Darkkit, who lay dead in his nest. She whimpered and her eyes widened.

It was a difficult sight to bare, Sparkpaw had come into the nursery to bring in new moss for the queens when she noticed Darkpaw's cold limp body. "Don't look." She meowed to Waterkit, picking up the little one by the scruff and dropping her away from the body. "I'll call a warrior in to take care of him."

Waterkit watched Sparkpaw after she had set her down outside of the nursery. She wanted to mewl her thanks, but decided against disturbing them. She sat down, grief piercing her heart at the loss of her denmate. She let out a little mewl, and then sat in her favorite spot under the bulrushes.
