Deadkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Crowstar called out to his clan. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather here for a clan meeting!"

Pansypaw padded out of the apprentice den and sat down with the rest of the clan. She knew this was Deadkit's ceremony, and was extremely happy for the young tom. Even though he only had one seeing eye, he was a strong young cat and had a warrior's spirit. She wished she could mentor him, but she had not yet earned her warrior name. She could only hope that the cat chosen would be patient with him. Purring, she waited for the young tom to appear.

Deadkit padded out of the nursery well groomed and came before Crowstar. He was nervous under the gaze of his whole Clan, but he held his head high. He was practically trembling with excitement as he waited for Crowstar to address him.

Owlpaw lifted his head, narrowly avoiding the brambles as he ducked from the apprentice den.

He'd noticed Deadkit before, of course, mostly because Pansypaw just went on and on about him. The tom shook his head good-naturedly, settling beside her and yawning—training with Lightningstrike was really taking a lot out of him.

"Good luck," he murmured to the kit, nudging him gently, blue eyes sparkling with excitement. Owlpaw sat back, shoulder brushing his denmate's, and watched, a great feeling of comfort settling over him.

Deadkit nodded to Owlpaw thankfully, and was comforted to see Pansypaw watching nearby. He was glad to have friends in the apprentices den already. He looked around at the gathering warriors, wondering which would mentor him.

Eagleheart padded into the clearing and looked down at the young kit in the center. Deadkit. He'd heard of the kit, but hadn't met him since his own kits had been out if the nursery. The warrior looked at at Crowstar, curious as to who would end up mentoring the kit.

OOC - To wrap it up, Vixenheart has been here the whole time.

Looking down at the kit who would soon be an apprentice, starting the ceremony.
"Whitekit, please step forwards."

Deadkit came forward nervously, but kept his head raised and his one-eyed gaze on Vixenheart.

"Deadkit, you have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day forwards, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Deadpaw. I will mentor you." Vixenheart said, with a flick of her tail. After the cheering had began for the new apprentice, she leaped down and touched her nose to her new apprentice's nose.
"We'll begin early tomorrow, be ready!" She whispered to Deadpaw.

Deadpaw nodded excitedly, he could barely believe it. He had barely expected to be treated as a proper apprentice, let alone the honor of having the Clan deputy as his mentor. He couldn't wait to go out into the forest with Vixenheart and start serving his Clan. For now, Deadpaw basked in the praise of his Clanmates.
