A Simple White Patrol [Closed]

Whitepaw was happy, cause she managed to caught her first prey. This was a fish; a sign that she had became real RiverClan cat. Now Amberpelt thought that they could do some land hunting; this was even more exciting! Now she will have a chance to catch something else with other technics. She followed her mentor and thought what could she found on the land.

Amberpelt finally came to a stop in a clearing of small trees, tasting the air before nodding, setting her fish down next to one of the trees and motioned for her apprentice to do the same with her catch. This would be the place. She turned to look at Whitepaw, giving her apprentice a small smile. "As you can image, hunting on land is far different then catching fish but one thing is the same that you have to be aware of not giving yourself away to your prey. You want to stay silent while making no big movements that would draw attention to yourself." She paused, taking in a deep breath to see if there was any hints of any prey around. She felt watching would be the best example of learning. Locating a frog, she dropped into a crouch as she flickered her tail at Whitepaw in a signal to watch her carefully before she drew herself forward the best she could before making the jump to catch it. She landed on the frog without a sound, it attempting to let out a 'ribbit' of shock but she quickly silenced it with a quick bite. Picking it up, she padded over to their make-shift fresh-kill pile and settled the frog down with the fish before turning to look at her apprentice. "I want you to give it a go - see what you can find and try to catch it...But know that there is no shame is missing - we RiverClan always prefer fish to any land prey anyways and its something we take pride in."

Whitepaw was amazed by mentor´s hunting abbilites and she was now even more tense, because her turn was coming nearer. She noded to her mentor and continue walking with sniffing the air. She sensed something. It was not a frog, she was sure for this. But what could it be. It was small and had no fur, as she could managed to found out of smell and sound. All creature´s sounds were very quick and silent, so there was a problem cause she would need much luck to catch it.
Then she even saw this creature. It was small and quick, as she already knew, but it was a lizard. Without hesitating, cause creature could sense her any minute, she jumped and fall onto it. Lizard wasn´t even hit so Whitepaw attacked him again, because he was traped between hers legs. She steped on it and then managed to kill him. She was very proud and brought death prey to her mentor.

Amberpelt watched Whitepaw as the apprentice found a prey and managed to kill it rather...Unskillfully. But she caught onto the prideful look that glimmered in Whitepaw's eyes as the young she-cat strolled back over to here with the lizard hanging from her jaws and so she put on her best smile as she purred at her. "Good catch. But..." she stated but then her smile faded slightly. "You shouldn't be sloppy stalking and hunting your prey just because it may notice you - most times, a sloppy leap and landing will allow for it to escape. RiverClan values grace - both on land and in the water. You got lucky, but I will not deny it did bring a smile to my face." She chuckled as she glanced at the sky, checking on how high the sky was. "If you want to try to work on your stalking, I think we have time for you to go after one more piece of prey...Or we can just head back to the camp and work on your land hunting at a later point."

Whitepaw was tired and she didn´t want to hunt anymore for this day. It was only a beggining of her training as apprentice and she had to stay fit and ready for next challenges. With heavy heart she said to her mentor: "I will try another time. Now I am to tired for this and I will just failed again, if I tried." Then she looked at her death prey and said: "And we already have some prey for elders and other clan cats. They will be happy!"

There was a smile from Amberpelt as Whitepaw admitted to being tired but was clearly still eager at what they had manged to catch. "Very well, Whitepaw, let us return to the camp then. I am sure everybody will be pleased with our catches" she purred as she picked up the two fish that they had manged to catch while motioning for Whitepaw to hold onto the lizard she had just killed. With a smile, she spun and led them back to the camp, very proud of her apprentice.
