It Finally Is... The Jay's Mottled Wing [closed for 3 Amber Eyes]

Mottledwing stepped out into the shining sunlight. She gave a breath, which entered the air in a cloud of mist. Her paws worked through the snow, the red bordering her white paws powdered with snow. She had an organized agenda of what she wished to do with Jaypaw today. She soon saw a smudge of bluish-grey against the white snow. Her paws crunched, as she hastily stepped forwards to greet Jaypaw. Today's session would be a pluck of joy, against a grim canvas of despair. "Jaypaw!" Mottledwing called, her tone of voice much lighter than it had been yesterday.

She took a seat, waiting for the young she-cat to join her. "Today's training will be eventful, I promise you," she said, with a glint in her beautiful hazel eyes. Her fur was groomed neatly, patted down with a few rasps of her bumpy pink tongue. "What do you want to learn first?" Mottledwing asked, tilting her head towards Jaypaw.

The blue gray apprentice having a fitful sleep the night before she had. She has woken early and was sitting outside the apprentices den. Snow powdered her blue gray tabby pelt. She blinked her light blue eyes and looked to her mentor Mottledwing."morning"she new rd before she flicked snow that fell on her ear. She soon stood and joined her just as she heard her tail about what she wanted to do. She paused briefly"I..um would really like to do some hunting and a bit of battle training"she mewed.

Mottledwing saw Jaypaw approach, greeting her with a small smile. She listened to her suggestions, and then nodded. She would advance well with this young she-cat. "I suppose we'll start off with hunting, then." Mottledwing mewed. She fluffed out her already thick red-and-white fur. She sunk her paws into the ground, for a moment unsure of what she should do. She then realized the task she was faced with, and whisked around, generosity overflowing inside of her chest.

She then saw a mouse. The newly-appointed warrior thought for a moment, and then carefully crept forwards. Her nervousness was a curse - she thought she would fail instantly. Little did she know, she would not, instead succeeding. She would make a good example for her apprentice. Her fur prickling like grass on a windy day, she pounced.

She soared through the air, then landing on the mouse. She caught it, and she felt proud. The odds of catching prey seemed to go up now that she was a warrior. She turned around to face Jaypaw. "And that's how it's done!" she announced with joy, feeling gratified that she had caught this now dead rodent.

Jaypaw smiled a tiny bit and watched her mentor intently to take it in before she flicked her tail"cool I want to try"she mewed.

Ooc how do you find out what prey you catch or don't catch?

Mottledwing nodded. "You can..." she decided patiently, "but you have to learn the crouch..." she bent her knee joints, lowering her body into said crouch. Her beautiful red-and-white fur. She tweaked her stance, to be perfect, and then sprang onto a fern. She flattened it beneath her paws, a clear sign that it would've been a successful catch if her scent was carried downwind - therefore the potential prey would've stayed perfectly still. "Like this!" Mottledwing told Jaypaw.

Where it says '1', change it to '2', and the first number is what you catch, and the second number is if you succeed or not. You can see the success sheet on the hunting announcement (Beta Edition). And when you click preview, you can see the types of prey that you catch.

Ic: Jaypaw blinked before she nodded"oh yeah that right"She mewed blinking before she flicked her tail. She watched as she crouched before she tried to copy the stance herself. She crouched down and tried to do exactly as she did though she has a feeling she wasn't doing it right.

Mottledwing gazed at Jaypaw, who was doing the stance slightly wrong - yet it was good for a first try. "Tail lower, back straighter," she observed, then suggested. Jaypaw was doing well, yet the flaws could easily be fixed. "Now try," she offered sweetly and kindly.

Jaypaw heard her and adjusted her tail and straightened her back a bit. She smiled a little and then pounced her target was the same patch of ferns. She landed on it squarely. She lifted her head up proudly and looked to her mentor.

Mottledwing felt proud of Jaypaw. At the success of the pale blue she-cat, she felt as if she, herself, had succeeded as a mentor. Her gaze was full of praise for her, as she nodded at Jaypaw. "Good!" Mottledwing remarked, blinking slowly. "Now, shall we move to battling?" she asked.

Jaypaw blinked then stood up straighter with a smiled"yes lets start battle training"she new rd with a smile of excitement. She padded back over her blue gray paws sinking into the snow as she came back over.

Mottledwing nodded. "I'll demonstrate first," she offered, rearing up excitedly. Her tone held a note of joy, and they flowed as smoothly as honey into the cold, Leafbare air. Her tail lashed, as she lowered her body again. Mottledwing grinned awkwardly at Jaypaw, her hind leg moving, to allow the claws on her back paw to scrape the soft, white snow. She wiggled. "Here we go!" Mottledwing yowled happily.

Mottledwing used Rear-up-to-Slash on Tree, causing 30 damage (if it was a true fight) and costing 15 SP (if it was a true fight).

Ic: Jaypaw watched eagerly light blue eyes slit with excitement. She watched her mentor and aunt strike the tree.

Mottledwing backed up, fur fluffed. "Now you try!" she said, looking over her shoulder at Jaypaw, her apprentice and niece. She stepped back to allow the blue tabby she-cat to strike the trunk of the tall oak tree.

Jaypaw nodded and attempted to try what her aunt and mentor did. She tried to rear up on her hind legs only to stumble back and turn in time to catch her fall.

Ooc only putting just that because it looks like an apprentice can't use that move yet.
