Let's Do Some Hunting [[Closed for Twisty]]

Sandybreeze woke up in her nest in the warriors den, her kits were growing up and they recently joined the apprentices. She yawned before getting up and stretching after padding out of the warriors den. She glanced at the fresh-kill pile and grimaced as it looked to be dwindling in size. She sighed softly to herself and began padding over to the apprentices den to wake Twistedpaw up. They'd go on a hunting patrol and help restock it. "Twistedpaw! Get up, we're going hunting." She whisper yelled, trying her best not to wake the other sleeping apprentices. They'd all been working hard and after all that had happened they needed their rest if they wanted to survive this leafbare. She yawned again as she padded to the entrance to camp to wait for Twistedpaw to get up.

Twistedpaw perked up and shook out her pelt, letting all the snowflakes fall out of her pelt as she yawned. Stumbling towards her mentor, she smiled sleepily and said, "Great! I am already ready to- she got cut off as she tripped on a rock, launching her face into the snow. "Go," she muttered as she swiped a paw over her face, spitting out the cold flakes.

Sandybreeze smiled softly in amusement as Twistedpaw face planted into the snow. "Alright then lets go." She meowed, a slight laugh in her voice. She turned around and began padding out onto the snowy moor. "Okay, so lets play a game of who can catch the most prey before its time to go back to camp." She purred, eyes shining with competiveness. She was trying to make the restocking of the pile a little bit more fun, but ,honestly, she loved competitions.

Once she finally got the snow out of her face and nose, she smiled and nodded to the suggestion. Swiveling her ears to hear the sound on the moor, she heard the faint crunch of feet, loud against the quiet leaf-bare morning. Angling herself she prepared herself to start chasing whatever was causing the sound.

ooc: yeah you choose the Hunting Dice and roll it twice. one for the type of prey and the second to tell you if you catch it.

ic: Sandybreeze smiled as her apprenticed took to the idea and immediately took off in pursuit of her prey. She glanced around, taking in the scents around her before catching the scent of a hare. She glanced around before spotting the tiny flicker of movement that told her where exactly it was. She crouched down and creeped quietly towards it before leaping out of the grass and onto it back. She quickly finished it off and buried it to return for it later. Shaking out her snow covered pelt, she padded on in search of more prey.

Twistedpaw watched her mentor speed off and chased after her own prey, getting closer and closer to it with every moment. Just as she reached out with her front legs, her unsheathed claws a mouse-length from the rodent, one of her back legs caught on a rock. Hissing, she tumbled down the hillside, the mouse scurrying under her as she finally came to a stop at the bottom. Shaking her fur out and shivering, she looked in dismay at the long trail of snowless ground her fall left. You scared all the prey away in this area I bet, She scolded herself. Shaking her head, she trudged to the top of the hill.

After just finishing burying her prey, Sandybreeze looked up to see Twistedpaw trip in the snow and lose her prey. It was always harder to hunt in the snow, at least it was for her, and she knew Twistedpaw as beating herself up over losing that mouse. She gave her an encouraging smile, though she wasn't sure Twistedpaw could see it from where she was, before she began her search for more prey. She caught the scent of a rabbit just a couple tail lengths in front of her and crouched down. She was making her way towards it carfully, when she stepped on a twig that was hidden under the snow. She cursed under her breath as she leapt out of her hiding spot in pursuit of the rabbit, but it wasn't long before it raced into its burrow. She shook her head, I hate leaf-bare. She sighed inwardly, tail tip flicking irritably.

Twistedpaw hastily groomed the snow out of her fur, before her ears caught the tiniest sound of a hare scurrying. At least I didn't chase it all away, she thought as she bounded after it, the last traces of her drowsiness gone as she leaped across tail-lenghs of snow as she got closer to her prey.
As she got closer, one of her paws snapped a branch, and the hare looked up and started running. Twistedpaw gave chase, but after a while the hare jumped into one of the tunnels under the snow, and the chase was done. Hissing, she went back to her beginning spot.

IC: Twistedpaw heard the faintest scratch in the heather after walking for a while. Looking at the hare hiding in the snow, she took off. Fortunately for her, it seemed slowed down and easily caught up to it. Pinning it down with her claws, she bit it's neck with a satisfying crunch. Picking up the dead prey, she dropped it in front of her mentor.

ic: Sandybreeze shook her head before pausing when the scent of a mouse hit her nose. She immediately crouched down, tail tip barely swaying in the cold breeze, as she began creeping her way towards the small creature. She stepped lightly through the soft blanket of snow, careful not to make a sound, before pouncing and finishing off the scrawny rodent. The prey just keeps getting scrawnier and scrawnier. She grimaced, sighing softly to herself as she buried it. Glancing towards where Twistedpaw was, to make sure she was still alright, she slowly began padding on in search of more prey.
