Daddy's girl

The white snow had sparkled under the morning sunrays. Cloverkit was already awake, she could never sleep since her siblings always squirmed around there was no way to sleep comfortably so she liked to nap out in the middle of camp where she was mostly undisturbed although some older cats would nag at her to sleep inside the nursery. Cloverkit had glanced around hoping to see her father but she didn't see him. Cloverkit figured that he was probably asleep or on a patrol so she decided to get something to eat. In a few more moons it would be time for Cloverkit to be an apprentice and she couldn't wait for it! The prey pile was low which was common since after all it was leafbare. She grabbed a small mouse and began to eat it but was disturbed when she felt someone coming towards her.

Returning from a patrol, Tinylegs was ready to go get some sleep. His paw-pads ached from the frost bitten forest and the cold was starting to get under his pelt. It'd taken him all morning to catch this bird and although he was proud of it, he hoped the prey wouldn't always be this scarce. Padding to the freshkill pile which was half frozen from the cold, the small tom noticed someone eating something and getting closer, he noticed it was his own kit, Cloverkit. Reaching the pile and dropping his prey on it, he padded to Cloverkit and let out a purr. "You know you shouldn't be out of the nursery, especially in this weather," the white tom meowed sternly, yet a smile was on his face.

She was surprised to see her father but she was excited to see him. "Dont worry I can handle this weather!" She had to prepare herself for the cold days ahead of her anyway since in a few short days Crowstar would give her a mentor and she would begin her training. Although she wasn't really excited trying to catch prey when there was snow everywhere. "How was your morning patrol! Catch anything good?"" She was hoping that her father would catch alot of food after all he was a skilled hunter!

Glad that his kit was confident yet a little worried that she was overconfident, Tinylegs purred and gave her a lick on the head before sitting down beside her so that their pelts touched and he wrapped his long tail around her little body. Hunting? Looking at the bird he'd caught, the tom was a little embarrassed to have to tell Cloverkit that he didn't catch much. "Well, being Leaffall there isn't much to catch, but I did manage to catch a bird," he replied in his usual cheery sort of way. "I bet you can't wait to become an apprentice," Tinylegs chuckled, seeing that the kit was practically about to burst with excitement.
