Pine Back On His Feet (Open Hunting Patrol)

Pinewhisker twitched his whiskers, glancing blankly over the camp, surveiling the silent scene with his green eyes. He had obtained permission to go on a patrol, and it made him glad that he could go out of the cold den and warm up his joints before leaf-bare hit. Snow formed a icy, cold and wet cover and the bornw tom did not like it one little bit, but he dealt with it with a shrug.

Lionpaw tiredly pulled herself out of the apprentice den only to be shocked away by the coldness of the snow as she planted her paw right into a large pile of it. She leaped back with a gasp, blinking in surprise at the snow before batting at it with an annoyed hiss. She once again stepped into the clearing, preparing herself this time for the coldness as she scanned the camp. Her eyes lit up when she saw Pinewhisker looking ready to go on a patrol once he got the cats to do so. She bounded over him, her tail flickering. "Pinewhisker!" she greeted happily. "Are you going to go on a patrol? Can I join?" Lionpaw didn't care what type of patrol it was - hunting or checking the borders were fine with her. She just wanted to get out of the snow covered camp.

Grasspaw heard her denmate leave and got up after Lionpaw. At the sight of the snow, her eyes lit up. The Thunderclan apprentice's thick pelt kept her from getting too cold on the frigid winter days.
"Mind if I come along?" She meowed cheerily and flicked her tail in greeting.

Emberheart lumbered through the snow with difficulty, heading towards the group of cats standing at the  entranceway of camp.

Leafbare was hard for her; prey was scarce, and her bright russet pelt stuck out like blood on snow. This was why she'd been unlucky with hunting—the prey would see her before they could smell her, no matter how quiet she was. It was her first time with the white stuff, and she picked through it carefully, sniffing at it gingerly.

"Hey, Pinewhisker. Grasspaw, Lionpaw." she greeted them with a dip of her head, but when she looked up, her eyes were sparking with a familiar boldness and excitement.
In all honesty, the fiery young warrior was happy her former mentor was finally out of the medicine den. It had been a moon, at least, before Dreamleaf trusted him to return to his warrior duties. She hadn't gotten to see him very often, and anyway, it would be good to share some more time. He was like the father she'd never had.

Pinewhisker dipped his head at the two aprentices, but there was a spark in his eyes as he saw Emberheart, and there was slight purr to his voice. "Looks like we are ready to go. StarClan knoss we need all the prey we can get, so that's what we will be doing in this patrol. Hunting." he said, leading the other three cats out of camp and into the even denser layer of powery white outside. He made a face as he beckoned Grasspaw to his side. He didn't want the cheerful she-cat to give him problems. Emberheart over andover again...

Lionpaw happily greeted Grasspaw and Emberheart as the two she-cats joined them. When Pinewhisker spoke up, her gaze turned to look at him with a grin happy to go hunting. Out of patrolling the borders and hunting - looking for prey was what she preferred. While it was wonderful to see the other Clans' territories, hunting for prey was always helpful to her Clan. She bounded after the tom as he turned and led them out into snow covered forest, gasping as they entered even denser snow. She shivered, wondering how they were suppose to hunt like this - her golden tabby pelt would stick out but...Well, she had to try anyways. So she followed Pinewhisker the best she could, waiting until he decided upon a place for them to hunt.

Grasspaw bounded over to the older cat's side. She just barely suppressed the urge to race out into the snow. It's so beautiful! She thought as she looked around in awe. If it weren't for Pinewisker's direction, she would have most certainly ran ahead. The she-cat, despite being around warrior age, hadn't received much training from her mentor. That, along with her happy disposition got her into trouble sometimes. It only took her a couple seconds before she got distracted.
She launched herself forward and tumbled through the snow. It was the first time she'd ever seen snow and she just couldn't resist.
