Pantherpaw's Assessment [closed]

Padding over to the apprentice sleeping area, Smokepelt prodded at Pantherpaw's side. "Pantherpaw, wake up," he meowed softly. Today he'd be giving the apprentice her assessment since her mentor wasn't able to.

Pantherpaw looked up and stared at Smokepelt groggily.
"W-what?" she asked.

"Today's you assessment," he meowed softly and made his way to the camp entrance, waiting for the apprentice.

Pantherpaw jumped up, excitement coursing through her veins. She trotted after Smokepelt.

Making his way out of the camp, Smokepelt trotted towards the Thunderpath, the first place that they'd patrol. Upon arriving, the tom marked the border and looked to Pantherpaw. "Tell me what you know about the clan on the other side of the path," he meowed.

Pantherpaw looked across the Thunderpath and huffed.
"The clan is Shadowclan. They are lead by... Thrushstar... and they are a kind of gloomy clan, aren't they?" Pantherpaw responded. She wasn't entirely sure about what to say for that question.

Glad that she new a good amount about the Thunderpath and the border, Smokepelt turned around and started heading towards the gorge. "Next we'll patrol the gorge and then do some hunting," the deputy meowed. After a few moments of silence, the two cats made it to the gorge. "Tell me about the gorge."

Pantherpaw followed close to Smokepelt and stopped at the Gorge.
"Riverclan is on the other side, right? Also, it's really dangerous, because if you fall, you'll die," Pantherpaw stated, glancing cautiously at the Gorge.

Nodding as she spoke, Smokepelt looked down at the rushing water and took a few steps back, not wanting to risk falling in. Flicking his tail towards the open moor, Smokepelt started trotting towards their next destination. "Now let's do some hunting," he meowed over his shoulder. Pantherpaw was doing pretty good so far, but the true test was just beginning.

Making it to a spot on the moor where the prey was still plentiful, Smokepelt sat down. "Go hunt and I'll follow. Don't worry about me, I'll just be assessing how well you do," he meowed calmly.

Pantherpaw nodded and took off in a trot towards the center of Windclan's territory. She picked up a scent after a little bit of looking around. She followed it for a few moments before she crept forward, spotting a skinny hare nibbling on the grass, unaware of her presence. Pantherpaw made sure she was up-wind of the rabbit before creeping slowly, making sure she made no noise before bolting forward and snagging the rabbit with her claws. It thrashed, but she managed to kill it swiftly before it got away.

Pantherpaw continued on, trying to catch at least four pieces before sun-high. The black she-cat had caught three already, and it was nearly sun-high. She glanced around. Nothing. She couldn't pick up anymore scents other than Smokepelt's scent which floated nearby.

Following the apprentice, Smokepelt was surprised at how good she was doing. So far, she'd successfully caught three pieces of prey and waiting for a little while longer, it didn't look like she was going to catch another piece of prey any time soon. Trotting out of tall grass in which he'd been hiding in, he gave an approving smile to Pantherpaw. "Good job," he meowed.

Pantherpaw turned around and looked at Smokepelt.
"Thank you," Pantherpaw said. She felt joy at the deputy's praise.

"How about we head back to camp," he turned around and started making his way back. "You did well today," Smokepelt added with a smile, glad he was able to help Palefoot in training this young she-cat.

Pantherpaw nodded in agreement and started back to camp. Did this mean she could finally become a warrior? She hoped.
