Shadepaw's Assessment [Closed]

Shadepaw has been showing promise, the training he had done for the apprentice turning out well. In fact, Mottleheart would dare to say that she was ready for her warrior name if it wasn't for one small detail - she had yet to do her assessment. But after today, that issue would be gone. He stood on the cusp of the hill that surrounded the WindClan camp, letting the gentle warm winds brush though is pelts. It wasn't exactly Newleaf yet but it wasn't Leafbare either. Instead, they sat in the middle of the two seasons and so it was the perfect day to do an assessment.

Shadepaw padded out of the apprentices' den on a bright sunny day. She knew that today was the day of her assessment. She had to admit that she was nervous but at the same time, she was excited to show off her skills to her mentor. She hoped that Mottleheart would be pleased with her results and that she would finally become a warrior of WindClan. Shadepaw also realized that this could possibly be the last night she slept in the apprentices' den. With that thought in the back of her head, she padded over to where Mottleheart stood. "I'm ready!" Shadepaw said

Mottleheart glanced over his shoulder as he heard Shadepaw walking up, dipping his head in greeting to his apprentice. "Come on, the sooner we get started the better," he said as he headed down into the moor, already having an area planned out for where the assessment would take place.

Shadepaw followed her mentor. "How do assessments work?" She asked Mottleheart. She wasn't quite sure of what happened besides that she would be tested on her skills.

Mottleheart came to a stop as she asked the question, turning to look at his apprentice with a flicker of his tail. "Assessments are rather straight forward. You have until Sunhigh to capture four pieces of prey of any choice - anything you find is fair game," he explained. "During this time, I will be watching and assessing your progress but as long as you catch those four prey, you will pass. If something else happens however, I will judge what progress has been made and decide accordingly. Is that clear?" There was a pause before he spoke again. "Your assessment beings now."

Shadepaw nodded nervously and quietly, not really sure how to respond. All she said was "Okay." before relying on her sense of smell to guide her in the right direction of prey. Whenever she picked up the scent of a rabbit she dropped into her hunter crouch , stomach low to the ground with lightweight on all four of her dark gray paws. Her tail was lifted off the ground to avoid rustle with the earth. She quietly and carefully made her way over  to the rabbit and when she got close enough she pounced, successfully killing the rabbit with a swift, clean bite.

Ooc: I'm on mobile right now so I'll be slower. Also you might want to take a look at the member announcement topics cause I will be going away for a week unless I can get on at night. Also sorry for the quotes double post I made. I tried to edit my message and roll the dice that way but I didn't know it wouldn't let me do it that way.

Mottleheart watched as Shadepaw stalked off in hunt of a rabbit, not moving as he craned his neck to keep an eye on her. He didn't want to get in her way and was going to stay as far back as he could, luckily the open moor gave him a large line of sight and so he stood still on the hill as he watched her catch a rabbit and kill it. A purr rose from his throat as he started to move forward just slightly, a smile on his face.

After the swift, clean kill of the rabbit Shadepaw smiled with satisfaction and happily picked up the rabbit and carried it over to Mottleheart. "How was that?" Shadepaw said excitedly. She kind of had a thought that that would not have gone so well as it did.

There was a faint frown on Mottleheart's face as Shadepaw came padding over to him, his tail twitching in annoyance. He shook his head with a faint sigh at his young apprentice. "You did good but you should continue on hunting," he scolded lightly with a frown. He couldn't really blame Shadepaw however, it was an exciting time but this would take forever if she came to seek his praise after every kill. "You can leave the rabbit here but you still need three pieces of prey - pay no mind to me until you have those three other kills, alright?"

OOC: Sorry for taking so long to post. You can just keep posting/hunting until you get the three other pieces of prey or you roll a ten (which means a battle encounter)
