Sandypaw's Assessment

Falconstone nudged Sandypaw. "Time for your asessment." He purred softly

Sandypaw groaned tiredly as she was being nudged awake, but when she heard "assessment" her head shot up from her nest, an excited smile already on her face and tiredness forgotton. "Oh! I'm up! Lets go!" She meowed eagerly and quickly rising to her paws, as well as not doing so great at hiding her excitement. She knew most apprentices were probably nervous for their assessment, but she was confident she could complete it with minimal, if any, problems so she wasn't very nervous.

Falconstone laughed, leading his apprentice through the territory to the center.

Sandypaw padded behind her mentor as he lead her out into the territory, tail tip twitching, eager to get started.

"Sandypaw," Falconstone purred, happy the two were at this level. "Please catch me three pieces of prey using your best techniques."

Sandypaw smiled as he said her name and listened to what he had assigned to her as her assessment. She nodded determinedly murmuring a quick 'okay' before trotting off in search of the unfortunate prey that would gain her her warrior name.

She soon caught the sent of a hare, maybe a couple fox-lengths away, and she watched as it nibbled unsuspectingly on a piece of grass. She crouched down and quietly made her way towards it, before finally leaping out from the camouflage of the grass and onto the hare. She quickly killed it and dug a small hole to put it in and covered it up. After she finished, she padded around quietly, scenting the air every so often until she caught the scent of a mouse. She looked in the direction it was coming from and padded slowly towards, careful not to make a sound. Eyes narrowed with concentration, she crouched down once more before pouncing and quickly finishing it off. She smiled triumphantly as she dug another hole and dropped it in before covering it up. Her confidence had been building with each kill and it was now at a high as she scented her last and final prey, another hare. She stalked towards it swiftly, but she must of moved to quickly as its head shot up and looked straight at her. She froze, silently cursing herself and hoped that if she didn't move it would go back to whatever it was doing. StarClan seemed to be on her side today because after what felt like forever it bent its head back down and started back up whatever it was doing. She inwardly sighed with relief as she crept closer, much slower, until she was close enough to pounce. When she did she quickly finished it off the same as she did the others and went back to collect the others she had caught. When she had gathered her prey she headed off to the spot that her and Falconstone had agreed to meet and sat down to wait.

Falconstone watched as his apprentice flawlessly caught prey after prey. Twitching in pride, the warrior sat next to his apprentice, soon to be warrior. He studied the prey and clean kills. "Very nice." he murmured. "Let's hide this and then we are going to race."

Sandypaw purred happily at Falconstone's praise and smiled mischievously when he mentioned a race. When she had finished hiding her prey she padded over to stand next to Falconstone. "You ready to lose?" She asked, eyeing him playfully.

"Nope, because it isn't going to happen." With a deep chuckle, he guided the apprentice to the top of a crest, where a long tree could be seen below. "Race you to that tree. 3, 2, 1, go!" he shouted as he took off, his long legs bounding him many tail lengths with each bound.

Sandypaw laughed at her mentors words, "You keep telling yourself that." She meowed, raising her non-existent eyebrows as he led her to a crest that overlooked a tree. "You may have longer legs than me, but I have determination and.. skill." She teased lightheartedl, knocking into him gently before fixing her now confident and concentrated gaze on the tree. She readied herself to take off and took off the moment she heard him start to say 'go'. Her legs were pumping as fast as she could make them go and she went flying down towards the tree. Falconstone kept a few paces in front of her right up until the very end and she made a decision to leap forward. Landing her next to the tree a few heartbeats after Falconstone had gotton there. He'd won.

"Fox-dung!" She huffed, disappointed in herself, heart racing from the run. And something else maybe? "Guess your long legs do count for something!" She laughed breathlessly.

OoC: In my head cannon Falconstone is the fastest in the clan (or one of them). She'll still pass if she looses :p

Falconstone heaved. Man, that was a work out. Catching his breath, Falconstone looked over Sandypaw. He knew her fighting skills were just fine; they spent hours a day going over them. With a nod, Falconstone grinned. "I think you can be a warrior, Sandypaw."
