Time Just Flies By

Mistywater was laying down in her nest of moss in the nursery. She had been pregnant with kits for some time now and she knew that they would probably come very soon. And yes she was correct, they would come soon. She began to feel tugging at her belly that soon turned into a large pain. She gritted her teeth and quickly grabbed a stick. She began to push, remembering the words that she had heard so many times. She soon saw a bundle of fur as she grabbed them it once it was over, she smiled and laid them down next to her warm stomach. She tapped her head on the snowy white one. It was close to leaf-bare and she knew that this small she-kit looked just like the snow she had seen before. She licked her head "Snowkit..." she murmured "If only Swiftheart were here to see you little one" she mewed "You have siblings, they will love you..." she mewed, wrapping her tail around Snowkit.

The small newborn, a frosty white she with blurred markings of grey since her fur hadn't grown in all the way yet, mewled pitifully, and squirmed closer to her mother's warmth against the colder winds outside, her pink mouth open in a silent yawn. The kit had so much to learn, so much to accomplish and do in the future.
But for now, there was nothing more stressful ahead of her than warm milk and sleep. She shrank blindly away from the squealing kits and into her mother's long, soft fur.
Starclan granted her sleep.

Blacktwig padded into the nursery alongside his daughter, Mottledpaw, and the reluctantly following, Galekit. Mottledpaw swung her head over her mottled red shoulder excitedly to see the new kit, and, surprisingly, her own aunt. "Aw, she's so cute!" Mottledpaw cooed, bending down to see the snowy white she-kit before her hazel eyes.

Galekit was next, blinking her sharp, straight-forwards yellow eyes. "This is the kit?" Galekit asked, unimpressed. She knew that the frost-colored kit before her was related to the lilac she-kit, however, she had no clue how. Something about her uncle beside her. She turned her nose up slightly. "I thought it would be more important." Galekit said snarkily.

Blacktwig purred warmly at the sight of the kit, his newest sister. Despite being from Mistywater's first litter, the dark silver-and-burnt sable she-cat kept giving birth to brand new kits. He curled up beside the soon-to-be-named Snowkit.

A second kit followed after Snowkit. Mewling helplessly and writhing next to his sister. This second kit was mostly white with three distinctive black patches decorating his newly growing in fur. His tail was much more nubbier than his sister's tail, perhaps this was genetic?

This small male was given the name of Heavykit, being profusely bigger than his sister in weight. Even looking a bit fatter than her too, more in a sense of pudginess rather than bloated looking.

But he didn't have that look of obesity, one would call this "kitten fat" or something along the lines of such chubbiness. But regardless of how much of a chub this kit was, his whine-filled mewls still continued until his tiny maw wrapped around his mother's milk maker and started suckling.

"But you have been the same, remember." Pinewhisker mewed coldly as he neared behind Blacktwig and the pair of she-cat. He beckoned his friend with a stoney blink and Mottledpaw hardly with any reckognition, before he drifted besides his grumpy daughter. "They both might jusg age up and become better than you at their duties as clan cats."

Galekit glared up at her father. "Alright," the she-kit said, tone full of utter defeat. She put her tail between her legs at the soft scolding. She had heard stories of Pinewhisker being the coldest tomcat in the clan. She couldn't tell if she was grateful or not to be his daughter.

Sheepnose, who had been in the nursery at the same time that Mistywater had began to give birth, slowly padded over to her mother. She was purring, a smile on her white muzzle.
"They're beautiful, Mistywater," She said, warmly, "You know, you might just be the next Cloverpool." She said, with a hint of humor, yet she still felt a bit saddened at that moment in remembrance of her dead relative.

Sedgekit trotted up to stand beside Galekit, giggling softly, "Did daddy scold you?" She asked, teasingly, stifling a giggle. Yet, she stopped softly laughing when she looked up and saw her mother giving her a glance of warning. Sedgekit then let her gaze wander towards the kits, "They're so...small! Were we that small once, daddy?" She asked Pinewhisker.

Pinewhisker gave his more cheerful daughter a soft look, but just a little bit warmer than the coldness he had shown his second-born daughter. "Yes, you were." he mewed before flicking his gave away and over to distant point in the sky, his tail wrapped around his paws.

Emberkit burst into the nursery, kit-fluff still on her pelt, her tail straight up and eyes wide.
She skidded to a stop half a fox-leap away from the newborns, nearly squishing them. Two glints of amber and yellow shone in her earth-colored eyes as she looked down at the kits. Ember was still panting slightly as she looked down at the wriggling bundles of fur, and finally spoke, a strands of grass stuck in her russet fur, one hanging on slightly above her nose.

"Well, they're ugly." The kit piped up. "How ugly were we when we were born? I mean, I was great, of course," Emberkit rambled. "But how ugly was Blacktwig?"

At this, she snuck a smug, bright-eyed glance at her older brother, who was curled around the icy white kit.

Blacktwig shook his head at the chatty she-kit. "You weren't perfect; I would know. All kits are ugly. I was," he said. He stamped his paws on the ground, littered with yellowish pine needles and almost perfectly coloured red, golden and brown leaves. "Snowkit is bound to look like this, too." Blacktwig explained, with a twitch of the base of his tail. The wind ruffled his fur, entering from the outside. It was all very chilly.

Maple kit was next in the litter. She writhed and quickly wiggled over to begin suckling from her mother's milk.

Mistywater smiled at the kits, she looked at the bundle. Her mother and father would be so proud to have grandkits.
