| Fairytail! :3 It has just what you described. There's plenty of action, even more magic, and enough romance to satisfy the average viewer's wants and needs. Plus, you asked for a Fairytale, so what's more perfect than an anime called Fairytail?
It is a mainstream anime though, so if you're not into big, crazy fandoms, stay away. Shipping wars in Fairytail are very common among its fans. It is long and some arcs can get a bit boring, but each character has their own unique quirk, and they're all very lovable.
Besides, whoever said mainstream anime was bad? It's mainstream for a reason~ ______________________________________ Characters:

| I'd go into a lot more detail, but I'm typing this up during my study hall period, so I'll have to get through all of them one at a time. Any titles in italics are ones that I personally recommend; that or I just felt like randomly italicizing something. You will never know. c: I'll be including a quick blurb for each of them, so if you see this post with just the names alone, that means I'm still working on it. @-@ Overgeneralizing a lot of these anime's genres because they can fit into a whole lot of them, but for simplicity's sake, I'll be lazy. This is all off the top of my head, so I might have a few things wrong here and there because I'm bad at life. - Action:
- Fate/Stay Night (Unlimited Blade Works): All I can say is the fighting scenes are very gorgeously done. Ufotable has really outdone themselves with this anime and while the plot isn't the most original thing ever, the characters are very nice and quirky - minus the usual generic anime male protagonist - and their character designs are pretty unique and appealing. The story itself involves these seven Sorcerer people with magical servants fighting to get the Holy Grail in a war against one another. Just saying, the animation is seriously gorgeous. Also, Saber best girl.
- Attack on Titan: Nice and fluid animations, though I personally am not a huge fan of this anime. It was way too overhyped and all of my friends spoiled it for me so... rip. The characters look more diverse in appearance in comparison to many anime that use a more cookiecutter approach with body types and such and they certainly have their nice moments to shine. As for the plot, it's about humanity being ravaged by these giant creepy-looking babies called Titans and a bunch of kids in an army are the only left for mankind's survival. Maybe an apocalypse-ish setting is your thing. Has some really nice animated moments, especially during fights, though I personally prefer the flashiness of Fate/Stay Night.
- Guilty Crown: Okay, this one's not too bad. It has a lot of science fantasy aspects and develops into a romance. The character designs themselves are pretty nice and aren't as over-exaggerated as a lot of anime styles here and there, especially the deuteragonist, Inori. It's another apocalypse setting and involves a lot of weird secret organizations that is kind of hard for me to explain atm. It's kind of asdflks;; to explain when I'm running on no sleep.
- Psycho-Pass: I found the character designs pretty generic for this anime because pretty much everyone wears a black suit, but the characters are super easy to relate with and overall, really good. This one is more of a dystopia society with a lot of crime and cyberpunk features. It's set in the future where there's a system that scans a person's brain to see the probability that they would break the law - if it reaches a certain set number within an individual, they are pursued and killed, if necessary.
- Kill la Kill: To be honest, I don't know this one well. A lot of people have said it's pretty good, but I never really got into it. The character designs were slightly off-putting to me. Basically, the students are in this academy that give them school uniforms that grant them superpowers and then try to overthrow their fearsome student council leader.
- Sword Art Online: Okay, okay, here's the thing - I don't like Sword Art Online all that much. It has a ton of potential and had a really good premise - people playing a virtual reality video game find themselves unable to log out and are trapped by the game master; if they die in the game, they die in real life. Buuut, it has a terrible romance story and what could've been really cool main characters turned super generic super fast. Not to mention all the side-characters they have that are just there as fodder for Kirito's harem. The female lead was okay for a bit and then the second arc happened... and then the third arc... and then the fourth and fifth ones. In other words, don't watch past the first arc unless you really like this anime. The combat scenes are eh in comparison to Fate Stay/Night and Attack on Titan.

| I'll watch pretty much anything. Even the ones I don't really like are still entertaining and I don't regret watching them. I haven't stumbled upon anything too messed up yet. *cough cough* Boku no Pico *cough cough* I have to say my least favorite anime so far is probably My Little Monster, followed closely by Red Data Girl. Those two were a bit odd.
Right now I'm watching Free! It has a lot of fan service in it, but my friend really wanted me to watch it, so I'm suffering through it. To be honest though, the plotline is rather enjoyable and the characters have their moments. In dubbed though, there are so many popular voice actors and it's messing with my mind. ______________________________________ Characters:

| I have My Little Monster listed in there somewhere under its Japanese name, Tonari No Kaibutsu-Kun. It's a rather interesting romance and it took a different spin compared to other shoujo, imo. Maybe I'm just biased because Beata made me take a liking to Haru a tiny bit more than necessary.
Sports anime aren't really my thing, but Free! has very nice visual aesthetics and such.

Yeah, like I said above, I don't usually watch slice of life or sports either, but Free is rather good for being in genre I don't normally like.
I prefer dubbed, but I don't mind watching subbed at all. Usually people have very biased and strong opinions on subbed or dubbed, but I really don't. I prefer dubbed because I'm a very restless person, and I have to be doing something else while I watch TV. Either that, or I'm going to bed. If I watch subbed, I can't look away or I miss what they're saying, and it's harder for me to go to sleep. ______________________________________ Characters:
