Yellowkit's Adventure (Open)

Yellowkit weaved around the reeds that lined the nursery, droplets of dew fell from the long stalks onto her mottled pelt. It had rained the day before, and small puddles stood stagnant around camp. This was her first time out of the nursery and she couldn't be more curious. Testing her legs, she padded around the edges of camp, sticking a tentative paw into a puddle now and then. The warriors were bigger and taller than she expected, so approaching one was just too scary. Yellowkit would just have to explore by herself.

After thoroughly testing every puddle and exploring every corner, Yellowkit plopped herself down under the shade of a willow. She was pretending to be a warrior. Now a warrior must sit up straight, she told herself, wrapping her tail around her paws and lifting her shoulders. And be calm, she gazed coolly around camp, lifting her chin a little and blinking slowly, attempting to succumb to some form of regality. And also... Oh wait! A leaf! Yellowkit pounced on the fallen leaf, her 'warrior game' forgotten. "I got i--" she began, but before she could finish, her awkward paws slid on the wet ground and she found herself tumbling into another cat!

Aspenpaw had been enjoying a fish as a lump of fur ran into the tom. As soon as the contact was made, the tom hissed and turned around, expecting some sort of warrior to be pestering him as per usual. As soon as he saw it was a kit, his gaze softened, but still remained hard on the kit. "Hey, be careful, kit! You okay there?" He asked, helping her up. No matter how vicious of a killer he was, he loved kits in his clan, only. They were the only cats he played, anyway.

Goosepaw broke into a smile as he watched the mottled kit slide headlong into his denmate. He looked up from his lunch and giggled warmly. His eyes twinkled playfully, but nothing could stop his problem: the dreaded stutter. "That was o-one nasty f-f-f... all! You alright th-there?" He cursed himself inwardly, but gave the new kitten a soft crooked smile.

Yellowkit stood up hastily, shaking her mottled fur. She glanced at the two toms, her pelt hot with embarrassment. "I'm f-fine..." she squeaked, not wanting to make eye-contact with the apprentices. Instead she stared at the ground where her leaf sat, now shredded. "Sorry..."

Goosepaw internally squealed. This kit is just a concentrated ball of cute fluff! He thought to himself. "Don't be s-sorry, it's part of b-being a kit-t," he said, touching his extremely fluffy tail to her small shoulder. "What's y-your name?"

She glanced at the tom, feeling a little better. "Oh...My name's Yellowkit!" she breathed, pawing at her leaf. She lifted her head and made eye-contact with the apprentice. He's not so scary, she thought. "What's your name?" She asked awkwardly, hoping to starclan he wouldn't think she was weird.

"S'okay, don't worry your little head about it." He purred, nudging the kit on the head. "Heya Goosepaw." He muttered, not wanting to set a bad impression, but a little odd about the stuttering apprentice. He flicked his tail in greeting, but he kept his attention of Yellowkit. "Nice name, Yellowkit." He purred again.

Yellowkit turned her attention to the other apprentice, blinking. "Thanks!" she purred, embarrassment forgotten. She kicked her leaf away, determined once again to 'act like a warrior.' She lifted her shoulders. "And what's your name?" she mewed, curious.

Goosepaw glanced away shyly, preferring silence before flaunting his stammering hum. His voice was very smooth and warm (much like honey, as some would say,) but was always cutting off in nervousness. He just lacked the confidence to speak clearly. "I'm G-goosepaw," he said, his tail swishing just above the mud. He took a quick bite of his lunch, awkwardly setting his ears back nervously.

Yellowkit smiled sheepishly at the tom. It seems we're both nervous, she thought, sitting down. "That's a neat name..." The kit glanced at the ground, throwing out a shy complement. Yellowkit didn't have a speech impediment like the apprentice, rather she was doomed to be forever awkward.

"Aspenpaw." He purred, proud of his name. The spunky young tom looked up with much pride, as he looked back at the two apprentices.

OOC: I ship it: YellowxGoose, the most awkward cats ever (though he still has to break free of the drama with Lion before he finds a mate lol)

Goosepaw started to slowly feel more comfortable. His stutter lessened a bit, but was still quite prominent. "Thank-k you. Yellowkit suits you very well," he said.

Yellowkit looked up from the ground. "So erm...Aspenpaw and Goosepaw...Nice to meet you..." The shy cat had trouble blurting out the words, but her insides were bubbling. Great! I meant new cats and they are really cool! She smiled sheepishly, pawing at the ground.

"Nice to meet you too." He mewed back, tail flicking. His whiskers twitched as he glanced to Goosepaw, silver tabby fur shimmering in the sun. Heh. They'd be cute together, both of them are oblivious nervous wrecks.

Goosepaw gave a little smile. "I hope you like the c-camp so far. It's a bit boring at first, because you can't l-leave it, but it's nice to come home t-t-too when you're older." He picked at the wet moss on the ground quietly. "I'll teach you a few moves when you become Yellowpaw, o-k-kay?"
