Snowy Adventures

Blue eyes glimmered from within the darkness of the nursery - filled with simple awe and wonder at the white world that lingered just a few whisker-lengths away from the quivering kit. Despite doing her best to stay within the warm confines of the nursery, the simple will to see what was known as the RiverClan camp drew Stormkit closer and closer to the white substance that coated the ground outside. Finally, the young silver tabby came to a halt, one paw gently raised over the strange surface. Her soft fur prickled at the cold wind that wormed it way into the opening in which she resided as she debated what was one of the most important choices so far in her young life-span. Finally, her curiosity got the better of the SkyClan kit and she dunked her paw into the white ground.

She yelped as she leaped backwards in a natural reaction, pulling her paw out as she had not been expecting it to be so..So cold! She pouted as she sat down, shaking her paw in an attempt to remove what of the strange cold powder that clung to her fur before realizing that the bulk of it wasn't coming off and resorted to having to lick it clean. The warmth of her tongue across her wet fur was a welcome feeling as she eyed the white world before her with a wary gaze. Stormkit held a faint idea of what the white coat that covered the ground was called - having heard older kits and queens refer to it as 'snow.' Well, if this was what snow was like - then she didn't like it at all. But...Her ears swiveled back as she lowered her paw and poked her nose into the bitter cold world outside of the warmth of the nursery, bracing herself against the bitter winds that lapped at her muzzle. She really did want to explore and meet cats other then just the other kits and their mothers, no matter how cold it was...

Troutstep hated the cold and the snow. The frost the nipped at his paws, the snow clumped to his fur, death and starvation clung to the world. He hated it. As usual, the tom woke with the sun and padded out of the warrior den, angry as usual. He sat towards the edge of camp with one eye open, one closed as he watched the clearing for any moment. He saw something rustle inside the nursery entrance and knew from experience it was a curious kit.

A curious kit it indeed was. Stormkit pulled her head back, raising a paw to rub her stinging nose from the chilling winds. Why did it have to be so bitter outside? The nursery wasn't a bad place but...It was no fun hiding inside. Lowering her paw, her eyes narrowed as she arched her back as if ready to hiss at the weather itself. She didn't want to be stuck in here! She stood up with an angry huff, turning and trotting a few steps away before an idea popped into her head. She came to a halt shortly after as she glanced over her shoulder with a wary look. It...It didn't sound like the greatest idea, truth be told, but it was something.

She took a few more steps forward before she spun once more, facing the entrance of the nursery once again. Stormkit took a deep breath, puffing out her fur to prepare for the worst before she pushed herself forward. She took bounding leaps forward taking the biggest one right out of the nursery - and into the snowy clearing. Now, she had expected the snow to be a solid enough force as it seemed that way from the safety from the nursery. What she hadn't been expecting thought to land in the snow and sink. Her legs simply disappeared into the snow, letting out a surprise cry as she started to wiggle in vain to escape.

Bad idea, bad idea! Finally, after what seemed like forever, she finally created enough room in the holes her legs had created to push herself out. The snow she clambered on caused her to sink just slightly, but not as much as she had when she had leaped out of the nursery. She tested the ground around her just to make sure, before she took careful steps forward, making sure not to go to far from the nursery as she leaned down to sniff the snow. Her eyes blinked when she noticed how...Shiny the snow was. She couldn't exactly explain what it looked like, but...It reminded her of the stars when she got a peak at them before she went to bed each night. This strange white stuff was amazing!

Troustep gave a sigh before a small purr escaped. The spot where he was sitting was warmed by a small ray of sun and for the most part, the snow had melted away. He gave a small meow and thumped his tail on the ground next to him, motioning for the kit to come over to him.

After staring at the strange sparkling snow for a good amount of time, she glanced up to study the RiverClan camp as her breath curled around her muzzle in a slight mist. The silver tabby's fur was fluffed up, making her look kinda ridiculous as she trotted slowly across the snow, her paws going numb from it but she didn't really mind. If she got that cold, she would just head back into the nursery. This was a time for adventure! Her eyes - and herself - came to a stop when she spotted a warrior lying in a beam of sun, his tail flickering. Stormkit's ears perked as she slowly trotted her way toward him, before coming to a stop not that far away from the sunbathing tom. "H-Hello!" she squeaked as she sat down, curling her tail around her paws as she watched him.

Troutstep moved his tail, making room for the kit. It laid in the soft snow, swiping the powder around. She seemed a bit cautious to come any closer to him, which was probably a good idea but he didn't want to be blamed for a kit freezing. Still, more sun for him. "Hello. Liking the cold weather?" He asked calmly opening the other eye. "Looks like the snow was about to devour you." Troustep was never very good with kits, always sending them squealing from his grumpy attitude, br would try his best.

Sniffing the air, he smelt an unknown scent. SkyClan? He looked down to the kit and then it hit him. He realized he'd never seen this kit because she was from SkyClan. "You're from SkyClan?" He asked, curious.

Her head titled in a quizzical motion as she stared at the warrior, studying him. Not like she got any useful information from it - she had no idea how to read a cat, she just figured it made her look more smart. Stormkit's ear flickered when he spoke up, straightening up as she drew to attention. "Kinda," she responded as she gave him a soft shrug. "Its really cold but..." Her ears flickered back when he claimed that it looked like it was going to devour her. "Nu-uh!" she hissed, but her eyes glimmering in a playful tone as her tail flickered. "If anything, I was gonna devour it!" She paused. Wait, could one eat snow? Well, she figured it could be - it seemed harmless enough. Besides, it turned into water when one licked it - whatever that meant. However, when he questioned if she was from SkyClan, she frowned slightly as her eyes fell to her paws. "Y-yeah," she responded with a shift of her weight, not sure how to completely respond. "I-I'm a SkyClan cat...Whatever that means."

Sadly, Stormkit was left confused on what the difference between RiverClan and SkyClan cats were. She knew there was a difference - they had different names, but she had known only this camp and nursery almost as long as she could remember. She could barely figure out what cats in the camp of of each Clan. There was something about RiverClan cats knowing how to swim, while SkyClan cats could climb trees but why were the SkyClan cats here in the RiverClan camp? Did they fail to have their own camp? She had always been to afraid to ask, and truthfully, while she wondered about the answer, she decided it was not important. This place was her home as far as she knew - and if that changed, so be it. She was SkyClan, not RiverClan and even if she didn't know the difference - she knew that her Clan was to be her everything.

He watched in amusement at the kit's confidence. "I bet you would." He meowed in licked a paw. Troustep knew the SkyClan question could've been a bit much for the kit, but she could handle it. "Being in a clan." he said with a sigh. When he thought about it, it was actually an interesting topic. "It means you have a purpose. You are loyal to your leader, you respect your clan mates and uphold the warrior code." He added.
